[Abstract]:Yellow-skinned Chinese Americans have long been recognized as honorary whites because of their achievements. However, Chinese people do not enjoy the same rights and status as mainstream whites. On the contrary, they are often unfairly treated and discriminated against. There is no strong sense of identity as an American. Peter Leung's case has triggered a crisis of Chinese identity. The New York Police Department's Chinese police officer Peter Leung has been charged and convicted of manslaughter of blacks and has provoked anger among Chinese. This paper, by combing and summarizing the views of the Chinese in the United States on Peter Liang's case, discusses the marginal identity of the Chinese. The main part of this paper consists of three chapters, respectively, from the political and cultural aspects. The social aspect examines the Chinese marginal people's recognition. Through the American Chinese view on the Liang Peter incident. The first chapter discusses that the Chinese identify themselves as marginal people in American political life. The reason is that the Chinese do not take an active part in American political election and modern American social movement. Move. The second chapter expounds that Chinese people recognize themselves as marginal people, which is reflected in the fact that Chinese people maintain their ethnic and cultural identity, have values different from the mainstream society, and rely on Chinese media. At the same time, the history of black ethnic protest is an important part of American history and culture. However, the Chinese do not understand the history and culture of the black struggle. Chapter three analyzes the prejudice and exclusion of the Chinese in the social life. It reflects the status of the Chinese in society, the discrimination they face in the judicial system and the police system, the relative marginalization in education and employment, and the negative image of the Chinese in the mass media of the United States. Through the above analysis, it can be concluded that the Chinese are not completely accepted by the mainstream society of the United States, nor are they well integrated into the mainstream society of the United States. To some extent, the Chinese are not fully integrated into the mainstream society of the United States. Chinese people are passive in political life and culturally different from the mainstream American society. They are excluded from the social life, which makes them identify themselves as marginal people in American society.
