对外汉语专业学生中国文化英语表达能力研究

【摘要】：二十世纪八十年代以来，英语教育中的文化因素逐渐受到重视，文化在语言教学中的重要性已在外语界受到普遍认可。目的语言与目的语文化相结合的教学方法已取得了显著的成就，使学生在学习英语语言的同时了解了英美国家的文化，从而拓宽了学生的文化视野。然而同时这种文化教学忽视了学习者的母语文化教学，导致学生无法用英语来表达中国文化，在一定程度上阻碍了学生跨文化交际能力的提高。跨文化交际是双向性的，文化教学应同时兼顾目的语文化和母语文化。英语学习既要了解西方文化，也非常有必要了解中国文化并能够用英语对外传播本民族文化。 对外汉语专业专门培养有较深汉语言文化功底、熟练掌握英语、日后能在国内外从事对外汉语教学的师资，或从事对外文化交流工作的实用型专门人才。基于此，对外汉语专业的学生必须透彻深入地掌握中国文化，至少精通一门外语。然而，，他们用英语表达中国文化的能力怎么样呢？本研究以湖北工业大学100名对外汉语专业的大学生为研究对象，以他们用英语表达中国文化的能力为研究主题，采用测试和问卷调查的方式，运用定量和定性相结合的研究方法分析对外汉语专业学生的中国文化英语表达能力状况。本研究还对对外汉语专业学生所用英语和有关中国文化的教材进行了调查。研究发现对外汉语专业大学生的中国文化英语表达能力普遍较低，他们对中国文化的态度和其中国文化英语表达能力没有关联；目前对外汉语专业的教学现状，学生在用英语表达中国传统文化方面缺乏积累，以及介绍中国文化的英语资料不足是导致学生能力低下的原因。在总结本研究结果的基础上，作者从课程设置、教材教辅、教师和学生等方面来讨论如何提高学生用英语表达中国文化的能力，以解决跨文化交际行为中中国文化失语的问题，使学生在今后的对外汉语教学和交流活动中能够更好地传播中国文化。
