哈佛大学与近代留美学生的人文求索——以梅光迪、吴宓为个案

【摘要】：近代留美学生对于中西文化问题展开了多方面的探索。以梅光迪、吴宓为代表的哈佛留学生群体受白璧德新人文主义思想的影响,强调中西文化的调和。其中,梅光迪怀抱"文学救国"的热忱,试图通过文学批评与文化批评转移社会风气;吴宓则力求会通文史哲,以期对西方文明有较为全面的认识,进而寻求中西文化的融合。这一时期,他们二人的探索彰显了广阔的文化视野与强烈的文化使命感,展现出近代文科留美学生所应有的理想与抱负。
[Abstract]:The students studying in the United States in modern times explored the cultural problems of China and the West in many aspects. The group of Harvard students represented by Mei Guangdi and Wu Mi was influenced by Babbitt's new humanism and emphasized the harmony of Chinese and western cultures. Among them, Mei Guangdi tried to transfer the social atmosphere through literary criticism and cultural criticism with the zeal of "literature to save the country", while Wu Mi sought to understand western civilization in an all-round way and to seek the fusion of Chinese and western cultures. During this period, their exploration revealed a broad cultural vision and a strong sense of cultural mission, showing the ideals and aspirations of modern liberal arts students studying in the United States.
