【摘要】：自1966年以来，亚裔就开始被美国主流媒体称作“模范族裔”。然而在大约一个世纪以前，亚裔被美国人成为“黄祸”，并遭遇歧视和暴力。虽然目前亚裔在美的处境已经有了极大的改善，但他们远没有取得跟美国白人平等的权利并被当做平等公民对待。本文旨在揭开“模范族裔”称号下的真相。 “模范族裔”理论认为亚裔经济富足，受过高等教育，有职业道德并且重视家庭。亚裔学生成绩名列前茅，进入名牌大学的机会大于其他种族的学生。然而事实却并非如此。 并非所有的亚裔美国人都经济富足、接受良好的教育，并且有体面的工作。亚裔学生被美国大学，尤其是著名学府录取的比例并非很高。更糟糕的是，几乎在生活的各个方面他们都遭遇歧视。 在任职方面，亚裔在升职方面面临“玻璃天花板”，即便在擅长的领域也难以升职。在收入方面，有着同样学历或者资质的亚裔挣得比白人少。教育方面，亚裔学生高等学府的录取率并不比其他族裔的学生高。 “模范族裔”理论给亚裔带来不少负面影响。首先，它将亚裔同一化了，导致政府忽视亚裔面临的困难。它还孤立了亚裔，并使得他们成为其他种族仇恨以及犯罪的对象。该理论还使得亚裔产生身份危机。无论亚裔如何努力融入主流社会，，仍无法取得跟白人平等的权利并被平等对待。
