《幽暗意识与民主传统》之幽暗——对张灏的批评

【摘要】：在《幽暗意识与民主传统》一文中,张灏试图解释为什么西方发展出民主而中国没有,其观点在华人学界有很大影响。但很多持幽暗意识论的人并没有真正理解张灏这篇文章的细致与微妙。事实上,无论从西方哲学还是从中国哲学传统考察,张灏的论点都有大而无当之嫌,经不起仔细的考察。以基督教为背景的幽暗意识并不是自由民主的充分条件,也不是后者的必要条件。儒家的幽暗意识,从发展民主的角度,并不如张灏所说的那么欠缺。最重要的是,思想史家张灏混同了描述性的历史事实与依赖逻辑的规范,混同了"是"和"应该"、现实和可能。理论上,已经有很多儒者从不同的进路论述了儒家与自由民主的相容性。
[Abstract]:In his essay "Dark consciousness and Democratic tradition", Zhang Hao tries to explain why the West developed democracy but China did not, and his views have a great influence on the Chinese academic circle. But many people with dark consciousness do not really understand the fineness and subtlety of Zhang Hao's article. In fact, whether from the western philosophy or from the Chinese philosophical tradition, Zhang Hao's argument is too big to bear careful examination. The dark consciousness of Christianity is not a sufficient condition for liberal democracy, nor is it a necessary condition for the latter. Confucianism's dark consciousness, from the point of view of the development of democracy, is not as short as Zhang Hao said. Most importantly, ideological historian Zhang Hao mixes descriptive historical facts with the norms of dependent logic, with "yes" and "should", reality and possibility. Theoretically, many Confucians have discussed the compatibility between Confucianism and liberal democracy from different ways.
