燕南园的先生们

【摘要】：这里如同一个被施了魔法的世界:绿色占满了整个视野,大树指向蓝天,灌木连绵起伏,向日葵和金针花挤挤挨挨地全部灿烂微笑,不知名的植物拼命从缝隙中伸出头来,大丛大丛浓密的野草被风吹起一个个漩涡,空气清凉芬芳,篱笆下的土地湿润松软,啄木鸟的声音在浓荫蔽日的园中余音不绝点缀这片绿色的,是几栋带烟囱的灰砖小洋楼、几处有着月洞门的小院落,偶尔还有一两位散步或者练太极拳的老者。这里,便是北京大学的燕南园。1919年,多所学校并入燕京大学,司徒雷登就任校长。城内的校舍相当紧张,他多方筹款,在西郊构建起新校园——燕园。这里,教学区是飞檐斗拱的中式传统风格;教职员宿舍则采用了美国城郊庭院别墅的格局,一色灰砖二层洋房,每户门前屋后都有宽敞的院落。建筑材料多由国外运来,门扇窗框的木材都是上好的红松,黄铜门把手工艺精良,屋内都有木地板,屋角有壁炉,每座宅院都有独立的锅炉房供冬季取暖。燕南园只有17幢住宅,却成了北大、乃至全中国大师荟萃的地方。至今,许多房子上镶的门牌号,还是燕大时装上的。

The school building was so tight that he raised money to build a new campus in the western suburbs, Yanyuan. Here, the teaching area is the traditional Chinese style of cornice fighting arch; the teaching staff dormitory adopts the pattern of courtyard villa in the suburbs of the United States, with one-color gray brick two-story houses and spacious courtyard at the back of each house. Most of the building materials from abroad, door window frames of wood are good red pine, brass door handles are excellent, there are wooden floors in the house, corner has a fireplace, each house has a separate boiler room for winter heating. Yannan Garden has only 17 residences, but it has become a great gathering place of Peking University and even all of China. Up to now, many houses are lined with house numbers, or Yan Da fashion.
