【摘要】：本文主要就韩琦与宋夏战争的三个方面问题，即谏官韩琦论西北边防、韩琦与好水川之战、韩琦与宋对横山的谋夺等来探讨韩琦在好水川之战前的成为良将的潜在素质，试图廓清韩琦对好水川之战的实际影响，并发掘他在宋谋夺横山过程中的贡献和地位，来展现韩琦人生中与宋夏战争相关的部分侧面，以及宋夏战争前与宋夏战争过程中的部分场景。谏官韩琦论西北边防，通过对韩琦相关论奏的详尽搜集、综合分析和有效推理以及对比研究，具体分析了在宋夏关系转变的关键时期，朝廷讳言边事的政治氛围下，韩琦表现出关心边事、重视边防、了解军情并勇于提出备边建议的形象，由此得出韩琦是一位对北宋朝廷负责任的有识之臣得结论。韩琦与好水川之战诸问题辨析，主要对三个问题进行了辨析或商榷。首先通过对人们常常引用的《东轩笔录》中一则与好水川之战有关的史料的考订和相关分析，对其真实性提出质疑，判断其不适合于作为好水川之战中韩琦“贸然出击”的材料之用，并对该材料可能的性质作出推断。又从正面论证了韩琦没有“贸然出击”的事实。其次，通过对韩、范分歧的具体内容的认定，分析韩、范分歧对宋夏战争局势产生的实际影响，得出韩、范分歧是宋夏好水川之战爆发的外部条件的结论，所以并不是宋军败于好水川的因素。最后，依据史实，对韩琦无谋而致好水川之败与不重视后勤供应而对好水川之战产生了不利的影响的观点进行了商榷，又通过史料分析，得出韩琦在好水川之战中的失策在于他不能亲临行阵和用人不当的认识韩琦与宋对横山的谋夺，通过对韩琦相关史料的搜集和分析，具体探讨韩琦与范仲淹共同谋划的横山策略提出过程中韩琦所做出的具体贡献。最后对韩琦在宋夺取横山历程中所扮演的重要过渡角色，，进行了事实叙述和简要评价。
