英语长句的汉译策略—《终局：地球的临界点》的翻译实践报告

【摘要】：此次翻译实践以安东尼·D·巴诺斯基与伊丽莎白·A·哈德利合著的社会调查报告——《终局:地球的临界点》为翻译实践参考文本。该书描述并分析了当前各种全球性问题,语言生动、客观。作者在书中运用大量长句,体现了严密的表达逻辑与专业的研究态度。由于英语长句结构复杂、信息集中,给笔者汉译过程带来较大挑战,因此,英语长句的汉译为本报告的研究重点。英语长句的结构层次复杂、含有较多后置修饰、连接形式丰富。基于以上特点,英语长句可大致分为三类:并列类、插入成分关系类以及环环相扣类。许多翻译理论家致力于研究长句的翻译并提出相应策略。基于长句的翻译策略研究,本文拟采取"顺译法"、"变序法"与"分译法"三种翻译策略分析案例。在英语长句汉译策略的研究过程中,该报告分析了英、汉句式差异、英语长句的特点、类别、分析方法等,以期对英语长句汉译的未来研究发展贡献力量。
[Abstract]:This translation is based on a social survey by Anthony D. Barnowski and Elizabeth A. Hadley. The critical Point of the Earth is a reference text for translating practice. The book describes and analyses current global problems. The author uses a large number of long sentences in the book, which reflects the strict logic of expression and professional research attitude. Due to the complexity of the structure of English long sentences and the concentration of information, it brings great challenges to the translation process. Therefore, the translation of English long sentences into Chinese is the focus of this report. The structure of English long sentences is complex, with many postmodifiers and rich forms of connection. English long sentences can be divided into three categories: juxtaposition, insert relation and interlocking. Many translation theorists are devoted to the translation of long sentences and put forward the corresponding strategies. This paper intends to use three translation strategies, namely "sequence translation", "variable order method" and "divisional translation", to analyze the differences between English and Chinese sentence patterns in the course of the study of Chinese translation strategies for long English sentences. The characteristics, categories and analytical methods of English long sentences are expected to contribute to the future research and development of English long sentences.
