以《马桥词典》为例对异化与归化权衡的研究

【摘要】：《马桥词典》是韩少功的一本乡土小说,英译本由汉学家蓝诗玲(Julia Lovell)完成,并在英语世界获得高度评价。蓝诗玲提出"忠实性再创造"(faithful recreation)的翻译概念,希望在忠实原著,向西方介绍中国文化的同时,确保读者的阅读体验。要达到介绍文化的目的,异化必不可少,而要保证读者阅读体验,一定的归化也十分必要。问题在于这两种策略的权衡。本文分析了《马桥词典》的英译本中具有代表性的译例,得出了权衡异化和归化时可以参考的几点策略:如果有上下文语义条件进行异化介绍中国文化语言特点,异化对上下文翻译和理解具有重大意义,则选择异化;如果异化能使表意准确、还原表达效果,而不造成不可接受的阅读障碍,则选择异化;如果某中国语言文化特点与英语语言文化特点存在较大冲突,导致异化会使读者产生误解或感到冲击,则选择归化;同时在如果需要异化时,异化的表达不能做到简略、明晰,容易理解,则需要选择归化。
[Abstract]:Ma Qiao Dictionary is a local novel by Han Shaogong. The English translation is completed by the Sinologist Lin Shi-ling and Julia Lovell. Lan Shi-ling put forward the concept of "faithfulness re-creation", which is highly appreciated in the English world. She hopes to be faithful in the original works. While introducing Chinese culture to the West, we should ensure the reader's reading experience. In order to achieve the purpose of introducing culture, alienation is essential, and readers' reading experience should be ensured. A certain domestication is also necessary. The problem lies in the trade-off between these two strategies. This paper analyzes the typical examples in the English translation of Maqiao Dictionary. Several strategies can be used to balance alienation and domestication: if there are contextual semantic conditions to introduce the characteristics of Chinese cultural language, alienation is of great significance to context translation and understanding, then alienation is chosen; If alienation can make the expression accurate, reduce the effect of expression, and do not cause unacceptable reading obstacles, then the choice of alienation; If there is a great conflict between the characteristics of Chinese language and culture and English language and culture, the readers will be misunderstood or shocked by alienation, then they will choose domestication. At the same time, if alienation is needed, the expression of alienation can not be simple, clear and easy to understand.
