文学翻译中形象转换基本方式的理论依据

【摘要】: 文学是一种用语言来塑造形象反映社会生活的艺术。文学离不开形象。所谓形象,本文所指的乃是阅读在读者脑海中所产生的影像或意向。汉英两大文化的共同点和巨大的差异性导致了这两门语言在形象和意义上出现了复杂的相似性和差异性。在文学翻译中,原语形象能否得到恰当的转换直接影响整个翻译的效果。处理文学翻译中的形象有以下四种基本措施:形象保留、形象替换、形象增添、形象省略。 近年来,许多学者发表了有关翻译中形象转换的文章,如:乐金声(1998),雷珍容(2001),三友,李静(2003),吴毅(2004)。作者发现,就翻译中形象的处理方法的研究而言,现有的文章都仅仅停留在它们作为实现形象转换的手段的陈列层面上。迄今为止,对于这些方法的理论根据尚缺少深入研究和说明,翻译实践中存在着盲目从事,处理不当的现象。 本文拟从文学作品的本质特点出发论述文学翻译中形象转换的重要性,总结归纳形象转换的四种基本方式,从顺应论、目的论以及文化空缺现象等理论的高度对四种基本方法进行再讨论,提出了文学翻译中形象转换的基本原则,并进一步研究它们在文学翻译中的适应性。作者认为对这一课题的研究不仅有其实用价值,而且能深化我们对翻译本质的认识。 《蒲柳人家》是中国当代作家刘绍棠的代表作。本文拟对其英译本中形象处理的实例进行分析,进一步印证本文提出的形象再现、形象替换、形象增加和形象省略四种形象转换基本方法在翻译实践中的适应性。 总之,译者在文学翻译中对形象进行转换时,应在准确理解形象词语的指称意义和语用意义的基础上,充分考虑原文语境和译文语境,译文的目的,译文读者的接受程度,在形象再现、形象替换、形象增加和形象省略四种方法中做出选择。形象保留适用于以下两种情况:当同一形象在原语文化和译语文化中有着相同的语用含义并能唤起同样的联想时,直接翻译原语形象;当某一形象为原语文化特有,为了保留原语文化色彩和实现文化交流而把原语形象移植到译语文化。形象增添分为以下两种情况:原语虽有形象,但内涵意义体现不明。为在译语中准确地表达出内涵意义,需要增添说明;出于表达的需要,确切地说,为使译语贴切、鲜明,使译语读者更易接受,原语没有形象的也可以增添形象。当原语形象在译语语境中会引起不同的联想,而另一译语读者所熟悉的形象与原语形象有着相同的语用意义时,用译语读者所熟悉的形象来代替原语形象,以创造新的形式与内容的统一。当原语形象既无法在译语中再现,增添说明又使译文太过累赘,译语中也没有形象可以替代它,唯一的办法只能是舍弃它们,用精练有力的语言传译出原语语义,尽可能缩短译语与原语对各自读者所产生的效果之间的差异。 如果译者能恰当地运用这些方法,深刻理解并把握住指导理论,文学翻译的译文质量将会得到较大的提高。
[Abstract]:Literature is a kind of language to shape the image reflects the art of social life. Literature cannot do without image. The image, this paper refers to the reading is generated in the reader's mind the image or intention. Differences in common Chinese and English two culture and great has led the two languages in the image and meaning on the similarities and differences of the complex. In literary translation, the original image can get proper conversion directly affects the quality of translation. In literary translation, image processing has the following four basic steps: image retention, image replacement, image adding, image omission.
In recent years, many scholars have published articles in the translation of images, such as Yue Jinsheng (1998), ray Zhenrong (2001), three, Li Jing (2003), Wu Yi (2004). The authors found that the research methods in translation of the image processing, the existing articles are only stay in as the realization of the image conversion means the display level. So far, there is a lack of in-depth research and theoretical basis for these methods, the practice of translation exist blind engaged, improper handling of the phenomenon.
This paper starting from the essential characteristics of literature discussing the importance of image shift in literary translation, summed up the four basic modes of image shift, from adaptation theory, Skopos Theory and cultural vacancy, the height of the four basic methods to discuss, put forward the basic principle of image shift in literary translation, and further to study their adaptability in literary translation. The author thinks that not only has the practical value of the research on this subject, but also can deepen our understanding of the nature of translation.

This paper is based on the image processing of the examples in the English version of the analysis, further confirms the proposed image representation, image replacement, image and image omission increase four image conversion method in the translation practice of adaptability.
In a word, the translator to convert the image in literary translation, should be based on an accurate understanding of the image words referential meaning and pragmatic meaning, give full consideration to the original context and the target context, the purpose of the translation and acceptance of the target readers, in image representation, image replacement, choose image increase and image omission four methods. Image retention applies to the following two cases: when the same image in the TL culture and have the same pragmatic meaning and can arouse the same association, a direct translation of original image; when an image of the original cultural characteristic, in order to retain the original culture and realize the cultural exchange and the original image transplanted to the target culture. Add the image is divided into the following two situations: Although the primitive image, but the connotation of meaning is unknown. In order to accurately express the connotation of meaning in the target language, need to add a description; To express the needs, specifically, to make the target language appropriate, clear that the target readers are more likely to accept, no image can also add the original image. When the target image will give rise to different associations in the target language context, while the other readers are familiar with the image and the target image has a pragmatic the same meaning, familiar with the image of the target readers to replace the source image, unified to create a new form and content. When the target image is not reproduced in the target language, and add that make the translation is too cumbersome, the translation is not only the image can replace it, the only way to give up they, with concise and forceful language translation of semantic primitives, as far as possible to shorten the difference between the target language and the original language of their readers' effect.
If the translator can properly use these methods, a deep understanding and grasp the theory of literary translation, the translation quality will be greatly improved.
