从目的理论角度分析戏剧《我们的小镇》的翻译

【摘要】：《我们的小镇》是美国著名剧作家家桑顿·怀尔德的代表作之一。该剧曾在百老汇多次上演,并获得了1938年普利策奖。《我们的小镇》描写了新罕布什尔州的歌洛威尔小镇人民的日常生活、恋爱与婚姻和死亡,通过对平常生活琐事的描写呼吁人们去发现生活中的美,通过剧中人物由生到死的循环历程来展现人类永恒的主题。《我们的小镇》经翻译之后,多次在国内成功上演。本文选取该剧为研究对象,分析戏剧翻译的特点。 20世纪70年代德国功能学派提出了目的论,成为较有影响力的翻译理论之一。其核心概念为决定翻译过程的最主要原则是整个翻译行为的目的。目的论认为,所有翻译活动遵循的首要原则是“目的原则”,即翻译应能在目的语情境和文化中,按目的语接受者期待的方式发生作用。翻译行为所要达到的目的决定整个翻译行为的过程。戏剧翻泽的目的是用于表演,在翻译过程中要注意译文是否适用于演出。那么,译文的受众就成了影响整个戏剧翻译行为的最重要因素。译者是整个翻译行为中必不可少的组成部分,戏剧译文的受众包括译文的直接使用者——导演和演员以及间接使用者——观众。因此,本文运用目的论对《我们的小镇》从译者、导演、演员和目的语观众四个方面进行了分析。通过分析得出：译者在戏剧翻译过程中是忠实原文的,导演对剧本的编排符合表演的需要,演员的生动表演也成功展现了原剧的主题。从很大程度上来说译文考虑到了目的语观众的接受力,不过该剧还有改进的空间。作者希望该剧翻译的成功之处可以指导其他戏剧翻译实践,让更多的人关注戏剧这门艺术。
[Abstract]:Our Town is one of the masterpieces of Thornton Wilder, a famous American playwright. The show has been staged on Broadway and won the Pulitzer Prize in 1938. Our Town describes the daily life, love and marriage, and death of the people in the small town of Glorover, New Hampshire. By describing the trivia of ordinary life, people are called upon to discover the beauty of life, and through the cycle of characters from birth to death to reveal the eternal theme of mankind. This paper chooses the drama as the research object and analyzes the characteristics of drama translation. Skopos theory was put forward by the German functional School in the 1970s, which became one of the influential translation theories. Its core concept is the main principle that determines the process of translation, which is the purpose of the whole translation behavior. Skopos theory holds that the primary principle followed in all translation activities is the "Skopos principle", that is, translation should be able to function in the manner expected of the target language recipient in the context and culture of the target language. The purpose of translation behavior determines the whole process of translation behavior. The purpose of drama translation is to perform. In the process of translation, attention should be paid to whether the translation is applicable to the performance. Then the audience becomes the most important factor affecting the whole drama translation. The translator is an indispensable part of the whole translation. The audience of the drama translation includes the direct user of the target text-the director and the actor, and the indirect user-audience. Therefore, this paper uses Skopos Theory to analyze the translator, director, actor and target audience. Through the analysis, it is concluded that the translator is faithful to the original text in the process of drama translation, the director's arrangement of the script meets the needs of the performance, and the actor's vivid performance successfully shows the theme of the original play. To a large extent, the translation takes into account the receptivity of the target audience, but there is room for improvement. The author hopes that the success of the translation of the play can guide the practice of other drama translation and make more people pay attention to the art of drama.
