从Andre Lefevere的操纵论看梁实秋对莎士比亚四个喜剧的翻译

【摘要】： “文化转向”为研究各种翻译现象提供了新的视角和方法,很快成为了翻译研究的趋势。AndréLefevere提出的操纵理论是翻译研究文化派中的一种著名理论。本文以操纵理论为基础,对梁实秋翻译的莎士比亚四个喜剧进行研究,试图把操纵论应用到译作研究中,看它对翻译活动有着怎样的解释力。操纵学派认为,翻译受到三种因素的操纵:意识形态、诗学观和赞助人。意识形态是一个重要的准则,它对主题的选择、翻译方法的运用、以及细节的处理都产生着巨大的影响。诗学作为一个社会文学标准的总和,对翻译中语言的运用起着至关重要的作用。翻译文学作品要树立何种形象,译者的观点取向和翻译策略都与意识形态和译语环境中占主流地位的诗学观紧密相关。而赞助人,包括政党、阶级、宫廷、宗教组织、出版社和大众传播机构等等,无时无刻不在操纵着翻译活动的全过程,他们可以对译者提出各种要求,而这些要求与翻译自身的规律如果和译者的愿望相符就会促进翻译活动;反之,则会对之产生阻碍。梁实秋是著名的翻译家,他独自翻译的《莎士比亚全集》以其流畅忠实的文字而享誉海内外。然而,根据AndréLefevere的操纵理论,所谓忠实,只是一个复杂而相对的概念,翻译是一种“重写”,而“重写”就是操纵。只要有翻译的存在,就会发生操纵现象。因此,本文采用AndréLefevere的操纵理论,探讨梁实秋的翻译选材以及对莎士比亚四个喜剧的翻译是如何受意识形态、诗学和赞助人操纵的。本文在介绍了论文的结构、研究课题和方法,国内外对此课题的研究现状,操纵论的具体内容和操纵翻译的三个因素:意识形态、诗学观和赞助人之后,从梁实秋翻译的莎士比亚四个喜剧中举出大量例子,结合梁实秋的翻译活动、翻译观及其赞助人的活动来解释和证明操纵现象的存在。最后,得出的结论是梁实秋翻译的莎士比亚四个喜剧确实存在操纵现象。同时,本文作者指出,存在操纵现象并不代表梁实秋的翻译不好,作者希望译者和译入语的读者都认识到,所有的翻译都是对原文的操纵,操纵是翻译的一种策略。操纵不是对原文的亵渎,而是为原作添加色彩,使其在译入语的文化语境内大放异彩。这也正是本文意义所在。
[Abstract]:"Cultural turn" provides a new perspective and method for the study of various translation phenomena, and soon becomes the trend of translation studies. Andr 茅 Lefevere's manipulation theory is a famous theory in the cultural school of translation studies. Based on the manipulation theory, this paper studies four Shakespeare comedies translated by Liang Shiqiu, and tries to apply the manipulation theory to the translation study to see how it can explain the translation activities. According to the manipulative school, translation is manipulated by three factors: ideology, poetics and patronage. Ideology is an important criterion, which has a great influence on the choice of topics, the application of translation methods and the handling of details. Poetics, as the sum of social and literary standards, plays a vital role in the use of language in translation. The translator's viewpoint orientation and translation strategy are closely related to the ideology and the dominant poetics in the target language environment. And sponsors, including political parties, classes, courts, religious organizations, publishing houses and mass media organizations, manipulate the whole process of translation all the time, and they can make all sorts of demands on translators. These requirements, if consistent with the translator's wishes, will promote translation activities; otherwise, they will hinder them. Liang Shiqiu is a famous translator. His complete works of Shakespeare are famous at home and abroad for their fluency and faithfulness. However, according to Andr 茅 Lefevere's manipulation theory, the so-called fidelity is only a complex and relative concept. Translation is a kind of "rewriting" and "rewriting" is manipulation. As long as translation exists, manipulation will occur. Therefore, based on Andr 茅 Lefevere's manipulation theory, this paper explores how Liang Shiqiu's translation selection and translation of Shakespeare's four comedies are manipulated by ideology, poetics and patronage. After introducing the structure of the thesis, the research topics and methods, the current research situation at home and abroad, the specific contents of manipulation theory and the three factors of manipulating translation: ideology, poetics and patronage, this paper presents an overview of this thesis. From four Shakespeare comedies translated by Liang Shiqiu, a large number of examples are given to explain and prove the existence of manipulation by combining Liang Shiqiu's translation activities, translation views and the activities of its sponsors. Finally, the conclusion is that the four Shakespeare comedies translated by Liang Shiqiu are manipulative. At the same time, the author points out that the existence of manipulation does not mean that Liang Shiqiu's translation is not good. The author hopes that both the translator and the target reader will realize that all translations are manipulation of the original, and manipulation is a translation strategy. Manipulation is not blasphemy of the original text, but adding color to the original text so that it can shine brilliantly in the cultural context of the target language. This is also the meaning of this paper.
