目的论视角下《红高粱》英译本中文化负载词翻译的研究

【摘要】：20世纪70年代前，多数翻译理论家都倾向于从语言学的角度来研究翻译，强调语言的“对等”转换。20世纪70年代，目的论的出现给翻译界带来了一个新视角，翻译质量的评判标准不是“等值”，而是“合适”——即译文文本适合翻译目的的要求，，要完成其在译语语境和文化中的交际功能。人类行为理论指导下的翻译目的论认为，翻译目的决定翻译策略和方法，一个好的译本必须是在明确翻译目的前提下才能完成。 随着全球化进程的推进，国家之间的交流日渐增多，人们了解异域文化的愿望也愈发强烈。因此，译者不能再仅局限于文字间的对等，还要满足读者群的阅读期待，继而实现文化交流的目的。文化负载词承载着一个国家或民族所特有的文化，对它们的准确翻译能够为读者了解异域文化提供有效的途径；然而由于不同语言文化之间巨大的差异，对文化负载词的翻译又面临着很大的难度。因此在明确翻译目的的前提下采取适当的翻译策略来完成这一任务是个值得研究的话题。 葛浩文(Howard Goldblatt)是美国著名的汉学家，获得中国文学博士学位，是目前英语国家中享有最高盛誉的中国文学翻译家。他的翻译风格严谨而讲究，“让中国文学披上了当代英美文学的色彩”。葛浩文是2012年诺贝尔文学奖得主莫言作品的英文译者，《红高粱》英译本就是其中一部出色的译作。在《红高粱》的翻译中，葛浩文巧妙地将归化和异化两种翻译策略结合起来，使读者在阅读到通顺流畅译本的同时也了解了中国独特的文化。 本文以翻译目的论为理论基础，分析了葛浩文翻译的《红高粱》英译本中文化负载词的翻译策略。为了在译文通顺流畅的基础上将更多的中国文化介绍给英美读者，葛浩文运用了直译、音译、意译、省略、增补等多种翻译方法，实现了满足读者阅读期待和文化交流的目的。
[Abstract]:Before the 1970s, most translation theorists tended to study translation from a linguistic point of view, emphasizing the "equivalence" transformation of language. In the 1970s, the emergence of Skopos brought a new perspective to the translation community. The criterion of translation quality is not "equivalence", but "fit"-that is, the target text is suitable for the purpose of translation, and its communicative function in the context and culture of the target language should be fulfilled. Translation Skopos theory under the guidance of human behavior theory holds that translation Skopos determine translation strategies and methods and a good translation must be completed on the premise of clear translation purposes. With the development of globalization, the communication between countries is increasing, and people's desire to understand foreign culture is becoming stronger. Therefore, the translator can no longer be confined to the equivalence between words, but also to meet the reading expectations of the readers, and then to achieve the purpose of cultural exchange. Culture-loaded words bear the unique culture of a country or a nation, and their accurate translation can provide an effective way for readers to understand foreign cultures; however, because of the huge differences between different languages and cultures, The translation of culture-loaded words faces great difficulties. Therefore, it is worth studying to take appropriate translation strategies to accomplish this task on the premise of clear translation purpose. (Howard Goldblatt) is a famous American sinologist with a doctorate in Chinese literature and the most prestigious translator of Chinese literature in English-speaking countries. His style of translation is rigorous and exquisite, which makes Chinese literature the color of contemporary British and American literature. GE Haowen is the English translator of Mo Yan's works, one of which is the English translation of Red Sorghum. In the translation of Red Sorghum, the author skillfully combines domestication and dissimilation, which makes the readers understand the unique Chinese culture while reading the smooth and smooth translation. Based on the Skopos theory, this paper analyzes the translation strategies of culture-loaded words in the English translation of Red Sorghum. In order to introduce more Chinese culture to British and American readers on the basis of smooth and smooth translation, GE Haowen used various translation methods, such as literal translation, transliteration, free translation, ellipsis and supplement, to achieve the purpose of satisfying readers' reading expectations and cultural exchanges.
