从跨文化交际角度看闵福德《鹿鼎记》英译本

【摘要】：金庸是世界上拥有读者最多的小说家之一，也是中国最受欢迎的小说家之《鹿鼎记》是他的众多杰作之一。《鹿鼎记》著于1969至1972年，是金庸的最后一部武侠小说，也是他作品中风格最轻松诙谐，从很多方面来说最不具金庸典型特征的一部。金庸精妙的语言运用能力在这部小说中展露无遗。这部小说也给我们读者展现了一个具有中国特色的精彩纷呈的武侠实际。这个世界里的人，我们也称之为江湖中人，都来自不同的背景，有着不同的语言和行为模式。而这些具有典型中国特征的元素，不可避免地给译者的翻译带来很大的困难，同样也给目标读者对这部小说的理解和接受造成不少的阻碍。1997年牛津大学出版社出版了约翰闵福德的《鹿鼎记》英译本第一卷并受到了很多英国学者的肯定，而原著作者金庸也对其表示满意。闵福德认为中国功夫文化太博大精深，西方读者不可能完全领会，，不论他们能在多大程度上读懂和接受武侠小说，他只是希望他们能够了解和享受它。但是，英译本能不能正确传达出原著的精神，这部小说能不能被西方读者正确解读，目标读者能在多大程度上接受这部武侠小说，诸如此类的问题引起了热烈的讨论。但以往的研究多是从翻译的角度去解读《鹿鼎记》英译本。跨文化交际是指不同文化之间的交流，作为一种普遍的想象，跨文化交际随时随地都在发生。翻译是跨文化交际的桥梁。本文试图通过对《鹿鼎记》英译本，主要是第一卷的仔细研究，通过随机抽取例句的方法，从跨文化交际角度分析这部武侠小说语言的可译性，以及其对于西方读者而言的易懂性和可接受性。闵福德和其他的国内外学者都强调中外文化的冲突以及这种文化冲突下该小说对于西方读者的可读性、易懂性和可接受性问题。正是文化鸿沟造成了这样的阅读困难和困扰，因此我们应该从跨文化交际角度对其进行研究。
[Abstract]:Jin Yong is one of the most read novelists in the world, and The Deer and the Cauldron, one of the most popular novelists in China, is one of his many masterpieces. < The Deer and the Cauldron > was Jin Yong's last martial arts novel from 1969 to 1972. He is also the most relaxed style witty, in many ways the least typical features of Jin Yong. Jin Yong's ingenious ability to use language is revealed in the novel. This novel also shows our readers a splendid martial arts reality with Chinese characteristics. People in this world, also known as people in rivers and lakes, come from different backgrounds, have different language and behavior patterns. These elements, which have typical Chinese characteristics, inevitably bring great difficulties to the translator's translation, as well as a lot of obstacles to the target reader's understanding and acceptance of the novel. In 1997, Oxford University Press published John? The first volume of Minford's English translation of The Deer and the Cauldron has been recognized by many British scholars, and Jin Yong, the original author, has also expressed satisfaction with it. Minford believes that Chinese kung fu culture is so profound that it is impossible for western readers to fully understand it, no matter to what extent they can read and accept martial arts novels, he just wants them to understand and enjoy it. However, whether the English translation can correctly convey the spirit of the original novel, whether the novel can be correctly interpreted by western readers, and the extent to which the target readers can accept the martial arts novel, and so on, have aroused heated discussion. However, most of the previous studies are to interpret the English version of The Deer and the Cauldron from the perspective of translation. Cross-cultural communication refers to the communication between different cultures. As a universal imagination, cross-cultural communication takes place everywhere and at any time. Translation is the bridge of cross-cultural communication. This paper attempts to analyze the translatability of this martial arts novel from the perspective of cross-cultural communication through the careful study of the English translation of The Deer and the Cauldron, mainly the first volume, and the random sampling of examples. And its intelligibility and acceptability to western readers. Minford and other scholars at home and abroad have emphasized the conflicts between Chinese and foreign cultures and the readability, intelligibility and acceptability of the novel to western readers under this kind of cultural conflict. It is the cultural divide that causes such reading difficulties and puzzles, so we should study it from the perspective of intercultural communication.
