从连贯的角度评析《傲慢与偏见》的两个译本

【摘要】： 语言是翻译的客体也是意义的载体,从语言学的角度探讨翻译由来已久。篇章语言学作为语言学深入发展的新兴学科,为翻译研究提供了一个全新的视角。从语篇分析的角度研究翻译,就是把语篇作为翻译单位,通过对语篇参数和特征的分析从语境和交际的范畴来阐释翻译研究和实践的操作。而作为语篇最为核心的基本特征,语篇的连贯性无疑是翻译中非常有价值且必要的研究基点。在翻译的过程中,为了达到文学翻译的最高境界,我们就必须最大限度地再现原文在各种层面上的连贯关系。本文将连贯性这一语言学术语借用到翻译学理论中来概括所有语篇内外的网络关系。 自从1976年韩礼德和哈桑发表了《英语中的衔接》一书,国内外学者就开始纷纷从不同的角度和层次对连贯展开了研究。虽然迄今为止,并没有建立起全面的连贯理论,但连贯却备受关注,从一个最初受制于衔接的语篇特征发展成为包含诸多因素在内的语义概念,并成为翻译本体研究的重要内容。本文在前人研究的基础上,通过分析和比较英汉篇章连贯的不同表现形式,对英汉翻译中语篇连贯的实现做了概要的分析。在文中,连贯是纲,它的实现是翻译中构建语篇的关键。连贯和衔接是目的和形式的关系,语篇连贯是内在的语义联系,衔接是连贯实现的外在语言手段,语篇的连贯主要是通过语法连贯和结构连贯完成的。语篇翻译的过程在一定意义上就是从源语到目的语的连贯转移并在译文中重建语篇连贯的过程。在理论阐释的基础上,本论文将语言学的相关理论和文学翻译理论加以有机结合,以语篇连贯性为着手点,借小说《傲慢与偏见》的不同译本为例,考察不同层面上的连贯性机制在语篇的结构、意义及风格等方面的整合效果。 这篇论文首先对语篇语言学的起源和发展做了简要的概述,并从中提取出构成语篇连贯的两个重要因素一衔接与连贯,从而引入了连贯性这一概念,阐述了它与衔接之间的关系以及连贯性在文学翻译中的重要性。连贯性涉及到语言各个层次的连贯,本文着重将连贯性划分为三个层次,即语法连贯性、语义连贯性及语用连贯性。第一章简要介绍语篇语言学的发展并重点阐述了构成语篇连贯的两大重要因素一衔接与连贯。第二章进一步阐明了连贯性与衔接之间存在的两种关系以及在文学翻译中连贯性的重要性。第三章根据韩礼德和哈桑在系统功能语法中提出的关于衔接关系的重要理论,从语法连贯性的重点,即韩礼德的衔接理论入手阐述了两个部分,语法衔接(连贯性结构的重要手段)和时态链在文学翻译的语法连贯性层面上的重要作用。第四章不仅考察句子内部的语义连贯,而且关注诸如重复、同义和同现等词汇手段所构成的句际语义连贯。第五章从意义连贯的角度入手,通过对比分析英汉两种语言在社会指示、文化背景及思维方式方面的不同,探讨译文如何在语用层面上重构连贯并最大限度地体现原文的风格。本文从同一小说的不同译本中引用大量例句进行阐释,得出结论;在文学翻译的过程中,各个层面上连贯性构成了整个关系网络。而一旦这些关系都得到了最大限度的再现,那么译文中的相关意义和价值就能如原文一样表达连贯清晰。 总之,本文意在通过理论阐述和文本分析相结合的微观研究,揭示连贯对于翻译研究的重要价值和指导意义,建立翻译过程中和译文评析中以连贯实现为基础的切实可行的分析步骤,从而指导翻译实践。因为连贯涉及的因素多而复杂,所以在这方面具有广阔的后续研究前景和空间。
[Abstract]:The language is the object of translation as well as the meaning of the carrier, and the translation has a long history from the perspective of linguistics. As a subject of the in-depth development of linguistics, chapter linguistics provides a new perspective for translation studies. The study of translation from the perspective of discourse analysis is to interpret the text as a translation unit, and to explain the operation of translation research and practice from the context of the analysis of the parameters and features of the language. As the core of the discourse, the coherence of the discourse is undoubtedly the very valuable and necessary research base point in the translation. In the process of translation, in order to reach the highest level of literary translation, we must maximize the coherence of the original text at all levels.
