试论意识形态对荣译《动物农

《动物农场》,出版于1945年,是英国作家乔治·奥威尔写的一部反极权主义的寓言小说。它被众多读者认定为是一部映射苏联社会主义的政治小说。正是由于主题的敏感性,该小说在出版后的近半个世纪没有在中国得到相应的关注,甚至一度被纳入禁书之列。一直到20世纪末期,随着中国社会改革开放的发展,政治环境相对宽松,该书才开始逐渐受到中国学界和译界的关注。相比20世纪的9本中译本,21世纪该书的中译本数量明显增加且达到36本。而这些译本当中,荣如德的译本流传广泛且广受好评。他的译文简洁流畅又不失优雅,在中文译本中堪称经典。 本文以安德烈·勒菲弗尔的操控理论作为理论基础,试图分析意识形态对荣如德中译本《动物农场》的影响。译者总是处在某一时期的某一特定文化中进行翻译,译者的翻译行为不可避免地带有社会文化、时代的痕迹。因此,特定时期的社会意识形态在很大程度上操控着译者的翻译,左右着翻译文本的选择和翻译策略的使用。文章阐述了荣如德所处的20世纪末期和21世纪初期这个时期的社会意识形态。世界的全球化促进了中国的经济发展和文化交流。人们开始对精神生活有了更多的追求。因此,这个时期的社会意识形态是荣如德选择该译本的必...
