庞德《诗经》英译中的抵抗式翻译策略研究

【摘要】：埃兹拉·庞德终生对中国文化怀有浓厚的兴趣。他在晚年,尤其是在蛰居于意大利小镇拉帕罗(1924-1945)以及于圣·伊丽莎白医院受监禁期间(1949-1958),翻译了《大学》、《中庸》、《诗经》等大量儒家经典。其中《诗经》,庞德将其译为《诗经：孔子所审定的古典诗集》(Shih-Ching:The Classic Anthology Defined by Confucius)出版,作为庞德最后一部儒家经典译作,具有重要意义。然而学术界对这一重要译作的研究却是凤毛麟角,究其原因,正如德伯所言,是《诗经》的特性和篇幅限制了对它的批评。能够将庞译《诗经》作为诗艺评价的批评家无法把它作为译作来探讨,而能够探讨翻译问题的又无从评论其文学价值。因此,本文不求面面俱到,而是专注于从抵抗-通顺策略的角度,探讨庞德《诗经：孔子所审定的古典诗集》中应用的翻译方法。通过对庞德《诗经》翻译文本的细致分析,探求庞德实现抵抗性话语的策略。我们从词汇、句法和章法三个层面深入研究文本,主要有以下发现：1.抵抗效果的实现除了依靠文本中的抵抗元素,更重要的是抵抗元素与流畅元素的结合。抵抗与流畅相互矛盾又相互补充。2.抵抗与流畅并非简单的渐变体两极,而是一种多层次的复杂结构。3.在词汇层,抵抗性是通过边缘性词汇实现的,包括方言、古语、新词等。即文化价值中专门、剩余或新生的部分。4.在句法层,庞德的抵抗策略可以归结为并置和省略。对于由系动词联结的“名词+属性”结构,庞德通常省略系动词,直接使用名词短语,多个并置；对于“主体+所属|行为|状态”结构,常省略主体,直接使用“所属|行为|状态”本身；对于原诗中的反问句与设问句,庞德常常遵从西文诗歌传统,转换为陈述句。5.在章法方面,与其它《诗经》译本不同,庞德译文的章节结构更多地既吸收了西文诗歌的传统,通过词汇层面、句子层面、和意象层面的操作,凸显变化,照应西方读者的品味。
[Abstract]:Ezra pound had a lifelong interest in Chinese culture, and he was late in life. As pound's last Confucian classic translation, it is of great significance, but the academic research on this important translation is rare, the reason is just as Deber said. It is the characteristics and length of the Book of songs that limit the criticism of the Book of songs. Critics who can use the Book of songs as an evaluation of poetry cannot discuss it as a translation. Therefore, this paper does not seek to cover all aspects, but focuses on the perspective of resistance-smooth strategy. This paper probes into the translation methods used in pound's Book of songs: a Collection of Classical Poems approved by Confucius. Based on the detailed analysis of the translated texts of pound's Book of songs, this paper explores the strategies of pound's realization of resistant utterances. Syntactic and textual three levels of in-depth study of the text, the main findings are as follows: 1. The realization of resistance effect in addition to relying on the text of resistance elements. More important is the combination of resistance elements and fluency elements. Resistance and fluency contradict and complement each other. Resistance and fluency are not simple gradual body poles. At the lexical level, resistance is realized through marginal words, including dialects, ancient Chinese, neologisms, etc. 4. At the syntactic level, pound's resistance strategy can be summed up as juxtaposition and ellipsis. For the "noun attribute" structure connected by the linked verb, pound usually omits the linked verb. Direct use of noun phrases, multiple juxtaposition; For the structure of "subject's behavior state", it often omits the subject and directly uses the "subordinate behavior state" itself. As for the rhetorical and rhetorical sentences in the original poem, pound often follows the tradition of western poetry and converts them into declarative sentences. In terms of composition, pound is different from other versions of the Book of songs. The chapter structure of pound's translation not only absorbs the tradition of western poetry, but also highlights the changes through the operation of lexical level, sentence level, and image level, and adapts to the taste of western readers.
