从语域理论看《西游记》的英译本

【摘要】： 语域理论是语言学领域的一个重要理论,近年来,越来越多的学者开始把语域理论和翻译结合起来进行研究,并取得了一定的成果。《西游记》作为中国的四大古典名著之一,在中国文学中占据着重要的地位。国内外学者从文化、宗教、人物形象角度对其进行过深刻的阐释。同时,《西游记》在国外有众多不同的译本,其中詹纳尔的译本获得读者的一致好评。然而少有学者对该译本进行语域研究。语域指的是在语言交际的过程中为了迎合不同交际情景的需要,而出现的不同语言的变体。语域包括语场、语旨、语式；语场指语言用来干什么,语旨指参与讲话者之间的角色关系,语式指语言的交际渠道以及语言所要达到的功能,分为口语和书面语。本文将从语域角度对詹纳尔的《西游记》英译本进行研究,分别从语域的三个变量语场、语旨、语式为切入点对英译本中各类语篇翻译进行分析,从而指出语域理论对小说翻译在重现人物形象,再现原文风格方面的重要作用,以及语域在翻译过程和翻译批评中的价值和指导意义。同时,本文试图通过语域理论在小说翻译中的运用,指出小说翻译中,识别语域是一个重要的前提,在翻译过程中要正确把握语场,语式,语旨,并对原文的语域标识和译文的语域标识进行比较分析,从而来达到语域的合理转换,达到语域对等,进而得到成功的作品。另外,本文试图通过语域理论在《西游记》翻译作品中的应用,指出詹纳尔译本的成功之处。为了详细地阐述问题,除了引言和结论,本文共分为五部分。第一章对《西游记》及《西游记》的英译本进行了简单的论述。第二章对语域理论及语域理论的相关研究做了介绍。第三章从语场角度对不同的篇章进行分类,分别对日常对话、信件、公告、公文、描述性篇章及诗歌进行了语域分析。第四章从语旨角度出发,以小说中对话翻译作为研究对象,进行了深入剖析。第五章从语式角度出发,选择口语和书面语作为研究对象,对两种不同类型的篇章进行分析。
[Abstract]:Register theory is an important theory in the field of linguistics. In recent years, more and more scholars have begun to combine register theory with translation, and have made some achievements. As one of the four classical masterpieces, Journey to the West occupies an important position in Chinese literature. Scholars at home and abroad from the perspective of culture, religion, figure image to its profound interpretation. At the same time, there are many different versions of Journey to the West, among which Jenner's is well received by readers. However, few scholars do register research on the translation. Register refers to the variations of different languages in order to meet the needs of different communicative situations in the process of language communication. The register includes the field, tenor and form; the field refers to what language is used for, the tenor refers to the role relationship between the speakers, the communication channel and the function of the language, which is divided into spoken language and written language. From the perspective of register, this paper studies the English versions of Jenner's Journey to the West, and analyzes the translation of various texts in English versions from the perspective of the three variable fields, tenor and style of the register. It points out that register theory plays an important role in reproducing characters and reproducing the style of the original text, as well as the value and guiding significance of register in the process of translation and in the criticism of translation. At the same time, through the application of register theory in the translation of novels, this paper points out that the recognition of register is an important prerequisite in the process of translation, and it is necessary to correctly grasp the field, form and tenor in the process of translation. The register mark of the original text and the register mark of the translation are compared and analyzed in order to achieve the reasonable transformation of the register and the equivalence of the register, so as to obtain the successful works. In addition, this paper attempts to point out the success of Jenner's translation through the application of register theory in the translation of Journey to the West. In order to expound the problem in detail, in addition to the introduction and conclusion, this paper is divided into five parts. The first chapter briefly discusses the English translation of Journey to the West and Journey to the West. Chapter two introduces the register theory and register theory. Chapter three classifies different texts from the perspective of language field, and makes a register analysis of daily dialogue, letters, announcements, official documents, descriptive texts and poems. Chapter four, from the perspective of tenor, makes a thorough analysis of dialogue translation in novels. The fifth chapter analyzes two different types of texts from the perspective of language style, choosing spoken language and written language as research objects.
