浅析《毕司沃斯先生的房子》中的流散身份认同

【摘要】：随着经济的快速发展,人们深切关注后殖民国家的文化发展,并逐渐意识到文化间交流的重要性。关于后殖民社会的文学作品在世界上占据着不可或缺的地位。作为后殖民文学的领军人物之一,V.S.奈保尔在其小说和游记中极大地关注不发达的第三世界国家,特别是其故乡印度和出生地特立尼达以及长期处于贫困之中的非洲。奈保尔的文学作品主要探索民族文化的危机和个人身份认同的诸多问题。作为他的早期杰出作品之一,《毕司沃斯先生的房子》描述了印度移民在特立尼达逐渐失去了自己的文化之根和身份的过程。该小说主要揭示移民艰难地追求独立,自6由和身份的历程。流散身份认同主要是指位置和身份之间的关系。本论文运用流散身份认同这一概念来阐释小说中三代印度移民不同的命运。随着生存环境的改变,老一代移民妄图生活在自我封闭的社会中,第二代试着学习如何与当地人相处和如何适应新的生活方式,而第三代则选择出国留学去寻找实现梦想的途径,并逐渐习惯于西方的生存方式和思维模式。本论文旨在说明移民身份危机现象是普遍存在的,而同时也揭露了虽然在西方文化和经济的影响下,寻找身份的过程极其艰辛与痛苦,但印度移民们正在逐渐适应以宗主国文化为主的社会,并形成了自身特有的、复杂的和混杂的身份。
[Abstract]:With the rapid development of economy, people pay close attention to the cultural development of postcolonial countries and gradually realize the importance of intercultural communication. Literature on post-colonial society occupies an indispensable position in the world. As one of the leading figures in postcolonial literature, V. S. In his novels and travels, Naipaul pays great attention to underdeveloped third world countries, especially his native India and his birthplace, Trinidad, and Africa, which has long been in poverty. Naipaul's literary works mainly explore the crisis of national culture and many problems of personal identity. As one of his early masterpieces, the House of Mr. Bisworth describes the process of Indian immigrants losing their cultural roots and identities in Trinidad. The novel mainly reveals the struggle of immigrants in their pursuit of independence, from the 6 th and the process of identity. Diaspora identity mainly refers to the relationship between position and identity. This thesis uses the concept of diaspora identity to explain the different fate of the three generations of Indian immigrants in the novel. As the living environment changed, the older generation tried to live in a self-enclosed society, and the second generation tried to learn how to get along with the locals and adapt to the new way of life. The third generation chose to study abroad to find a way to realize their dreams and became accustomed to the way of living and thinking in the West. The purpose of this paper is to show that the phenomenon of immigration status crisis is widespread, and it also reveals that the process of seeking identity is extremely difficult and painful under the influence of western culture and economy. But Indian immigrants are adapting to the dominant culture of the Suzerain and forming their own unique, complex and mixed identities.
