《波特诺伊的控诉》和《鬼作家》中的幽默

第二代美籍犹太作家菲利普·罗斯的两部作品《波特诺伊的怨诉》与《鬼作家》里富含幽默。通过这些幽默,我们可以了解美籍犹太人生活中重要的方方面面。本论文从三个角度来探索罗斯作品中的幽默,即语言中的幽默,角色表现的幽默以及情景中的幽默。 研究语言中的幽默是从事幽默研究中最基本的一个角度。本论文首先通过不协调幽默理论来分析这两部作品中的语言幽默。该部分所引用的例子分别体现出犹太人在美国生活的各个层面,比如说犹太母亲们对儿子们怀抱过高的期望,犹太人生活中的反犹太主义现象以及犹太名流们的生活。 角色表现的幽默集中体现在“糊涂蛋”这样一个喜剧类型上。“糊涂蛋”这个角色总是生活在自己的理想世界中,他/她不懂得要根据现实情况而做出相应的改变。这两本小说中有三个人物属于这类角色,他/她们分别是:罗诺夫,安尼·弗兰克和亚力山大·波特诺伊。本文依据他/她们的理想和现实之间的差异,从自我夸大幽默和自我贬低幽默两个角度进行了分析。 情景中的幽默围绕着亚力山大·波特诺伊和内森·朱克曼而展开。他们在小说中被描述成犹太笑话中“被窒息的儿子”。作为犹太人的生活的缩影,他们的境况大致体现了犹太社会的呆板机制。 与犹太幽默相比,菲利普·罗斯作品中的幽默既带有犹太幽默的特点又包含美国化的特色。通过分析这两部小说中的幽默,我们将对犹太人在美国的生活状况以及他们的精神世界有一定层面的了解。
