性格造成悲剧的命运—苔丝与梅季对比分析

　　 《德伯家的苔丝》是托马斯·哈代的一部伟大的悲剧小说,是世界文学宝库中的一颗璀璨明珠,一百多年来一直受到了广大读者的喜爱。小说中哈代以生动的笔触,深挚的情感塑造出了一个善良美丽的少女苔丝：宛若“一个清新、纯洁的大自然的女儿”,“在气质和体貌两方面都表现出一种尊贵的端庄,俨然是个皇后”,“她周身洋溢着诗意,一举一动都是诗,把诗人只在纸上写写的诗,活生生地显现出来了”。虽然苔丝是个失贞的女人,甚至最后论为了杀人犯,但作者还是大胆地摒弃了世俗的观念,赞扬她为“一个纯洁的女人”,“远远胜过别的处女的清新”。 斯蒂芬·克莱恩是美国自然主义的先驱,其作品《街头女郎梅季》是美国历史上第一部自然主义小说.主人公梅季出身在阴沉腐暗,东倒西歪的贫民窟,她的家庭环境更加恶劣,她的父亲毫无责任心,对他来说生活中最重要的事就是抽烟,而她的母亲是贫民窟典型的泼妇,可以说梅季生长的环境如同地狱一般,而与他生长的环境形成极大反差的是她的温柔,娴静,敏感,天真,并向往美好生活的性格。梅季的命运同样是悲剧的,她天真地受人欺骗,被家人拒绝,受到诅咒,最后造成了梅季凄惨的命运。 两位女主人公都经历的悲惨的命运,她们是命运的牺牲品,两位作家笔下的女主人公性格,出身,以及所处的社会环境都有颇多的相似之处,说明两位作家都很注重环境对性格形成的影响,性格对命运的影响.本文以他们作品中具有代表性的两位人物苔丝与梅季进行比较,尝试对两位作家所塑造的女人形象做一对比分析。
