【摘要】：司各特于1814年发表的历史小说《威弗莱》描写了1745年斯图亚特王朝"摄政王"查尔斯·爱德华身着苏格兰花格呢服装在爱丁堡荷里路德宫同高地氏族首领举兵叛乱的场景。1822年,司各特全程主管了大不列颠联合王国汉诺威王朝君主乔治四世爱丁堡巡访之旅的仪仗安排,当时乔治四世也穿上了花格呢服装在荷里路德宫召见苏格兰高地首领,这个场景与《威弗莱》所载"摄政王"在苏格兰历史上的辉煌时刻形成了穿越时空的呼应。野蛮与浪漫的历史记忆透过花格呢投射出来,映照了英格兰政治力量对苏格兰文化从压制到吸纳的转变过程,反转显影出苏格兰民族对英格兰的态度的历史轨迹。
[Abstract]:Scott's historical novel, "Waverly," published in 1814, depicts the rebellion of Charles Edward, the Regent of the Stuart Dynasty, in 1745, at Holyrood Palace in Edinburgh, dressed in Scottish garb, against a Highland clan leader. Scott was in charge of the arrangements for the visit to Edinburgh by King George IV of the Hannover Kingdom of Great Britain and the United Kingdom. At that time, George IV also dressed in a garb and summoned the Scottish Highland Chief at Holyrood Palace. This scene echoes the regent's glorious moments in Scottish history. The historical memory of barbarism and romance is projected through the frame, reflecting the process of the transformation of the political forces of England towards Scottish culture from suppression to absorption, and reversing the historical track of the Scottish nation's attitude towards England.
