从逃避到承担：《星期六》的伦理解读

【摘要】：作为当代英国文坛颇具影响力的作家之一,伊恩·麦克尤恩一直表现出对人类命运和社会现实的关注。《星期六》的创作背景就设置在9.11恐怖袭击后的2003年2月15日这一天,伊拉克战争即将来临,恐怖主义和战争的威胁造成了现代人内心欲望和社会现实的冲突。本文以伊恩·麦克尤恩的小说《星期六》为研究对象,以伦理解读的方式探讨主人公亨利·贝罗安在困境和冲突中学会对他人承担社会责任。本文首先探究在充斥着恐怖主义和战争的社会背景下,贝罗安与外部环境和与他人关系始终处于不和谐的状态。面对外部环境,他选择把自己与外部隔绝;在与他人交流中也屡屡碰壁。其次,分析社会问题所带来的伦理困惑。战争、社会不公、社会对“两种文化”的争论使他陷入伦理冲突的泥潭。最后,讨论贝罗安的伦理选择即对他人承担责任。小说结尾处,贝罗安一家遭遇巴克斯特,一位绝症患者入室抢劫,最后却因一首诗歌化解了危机。这让贝罗安意识到生命的脆弱性,体会到文学的道德教诲作用,也明白其作为社会人对他人应承担的责任。伊恩·麦克尤恩通过《星期六》强调了文学的道德教诲价值及承担责任的义务,由此也表达他对人类未来的希望。
[Abstract]:As one of the most influential writers in contemporary British literature, Ian McEwan has been showing concern for the fate of mankind and social reality. The background of Saturday's creation was set on February 15, 2003, after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2003. The coming war in Iraq, terrorism and the threat of war have caused conflicts between the inner desires and social realities of modern people. Taking Ian McEwan's novel Saturday as the object of study, this paper explores the hero Henry Beloan's learning to bear social responsibility to others in difficulties and conflicts. This paper first explores that under the background of terrorism and war Beloan has always been in disharmony with external environment and relations with others. In the face of the external environment, he chose to isolate himself from the outside, and repeatedly encountered a wall in his communication with others. Secondly, it analyzes the ethical confusion brought about by social problems. Wars, social injustices and social arguments about the two cultures put him in a quagmire of ethical conflicts. Finally, the ethical choice of Veroan is to take responsibility for others. At the end of the novel, the Beloans are robbed by Baxter, a terminally ill patient, only to be resolved by a poem. This makes Beloan aware of the fragility of life, the role of literature in moral education, and its responsibility to others as a social person. Ian McEwan expressed his hope for the future of mankind by emphasizing the moral values of literature and the duty to take responsibility.
