意象研究下解读《染血之室》中的女性主义思想

【摘要】:二十世纪八十年代以后,英国文学迎来了一批具有开拓革新精神的新现实主义作家。作为代表之一,安吉拉·卡特继承又超越了传统现实主义。这种继承与超越在其短篇小说集《染血之室》中得以彰显。在《染血之室》中,卡特用旧瓶装新酒,将传统童话大胆地进行了改编,重塑了女性形象,将童话从儿童读物变成了女性主义读物。尽管卡特否认自身是一位女性主义作家,但评论家们从戏仿、互文以及哥特文化等视角对其中的女性主义思想进行了深度阐释。本文则通过分析研究《染血之室》中“房子”、“色彩”及“光”这三个意象的象征意义的动态变化,旨在证明卡特在潜意识中将女性主义思想赋予在了其小说中。本文研究小说中的三个意象。首先是贯穿于多个短篇故事中的“房子”意象,该意象的象征意义在作品中经历了从女性的“牢笼”到“战场”再到“乐园”的蜕变。这正是女性从甘受压迫到寻找自我意识,再到反抗男权的蜕变。其次是“色彩”意象,卡特对色彩的安排别具匠心,小说中一开始对女性的描写多为象征着纯洁与无知的“白色”。而对男性的描写多为给人以压迫感的“黑色”与“金色”。但在故事末尾则多用代表着暴力的“红色”进行描写。从色彩安排上可以看出,女性起初是男性压迫下愚昧无知的“他者”,最后转变成为找到了自我意识并成功摆脱男性束缚的主导者。最后,本文对“光”的意象进行了研究。小说中女性一开始生活在“黑暗”笼罩下的压抑环境中。随着故事情节的发展,“微光”出现在了女性寻找自我意识的情节中。而到最后女性获得胜利与自由后,小说则随之出现了“光明”场景的描写。从“黑暗”到“微光”再到“光明”,实则是女性从被边缘化,到自我探索,再到顿悟后对男权中心主义颠覆的转变。本文从意象研究的视角解读卡特的代表作《染血之室》,从多个意象解析小说,让读者进一步了解卡特的女性主义思想。
[Abstract]:After 1980's, English literature ushered in a group of new realist writers with pioneering and innovative spirit. As one of the representatives, Angela Carter inherited and transcended traditional realism. This inheritance and transcendence is manifested in his collection of short stories, the Room of Blood. In the Room of Blood, Carter boldly rearranges the traditional fairy tale with the new wine in the old bottle, reshaping the female image and changing the fairy tale from a children's book to a feminist one. Although Carter denied that he was a feminist writer, critics explained the feminist ideas from the perspectives of parody, intertextuality and Gothic culture. By analyzing the dynamic changes of the symbolic meanings of "House", "Color" and "Light" in the Room of Blood, this paper aims to prove that Carter subconsciously endows the feminist thought in his novels. This paper studies three images in the novel. The first is the "house" image which runs through many short stories. The symbolic meaning of the image has undergone the transformation from "cage" to "battlefield" to "paradise" in the works. This is the transformation of women from being oppressed to seeking self-consciousness to resisting male power. Secondly, the "color" image, Carter's arrangement of color is ingenious, the novel in the beginning of the description of women as a symbol of purity and ignorance of the "white". The description of men is mostly the "black" and "gold" which give people a sense of compulsion. At the end of the story, however, it is often described in red, which represents violence. From the color arrangement, it can be seen that women are the "other" under the oppression of men at first, and finally become the dominant ones who find their own consciousness and successfully free themselves from the male bondage. Finally, this paper studies the image of Light. In the novel, women begin to live in the oppressive environment of darkness. With the development of storyline, the "low light" appears in the plot of women seeking self-consciousness. In the end, after the women won the victory and freedom, the novel appeared the "light" scene. From "darkness" to "low light" to "light", it is the transformation of women from being marginalized, to self-exploration, to subversion of patriarchal centralism after epiphany. This paper interprets Carter's masterpiece, the Room of Blood, from the perspective of image research, and analyzes the novels from a number of images, so that readers can further understand Carter's feminist thoughts.
