“塔”中的“女人”:拜厄特小说《巴别塔》中女性的生存困境

【摘要】：《巴别塔》是英国作家拜厄特以20世纪英国三波女权主义运动为背景的作品,小说通过对基督教《圣经》旧故事变形重写,将原本代表上帝"圣言"与权威的巴别塔更新为象征西方传统文化思想中"男权中心"之"塔"的布兰庄园意象,书写生活在庄园里代表"天使"形象的三位传统女性与代表男性绝对权威的庄园主奈杰尔和想要追求智性生活并渴望通过参与社会事务以实现自己人生价值的"恶魔"弗雷德丽卡之间的矛盾与冲突,并以弗雷德丽卡为棱镜,从不同角度折射20世纪60年代身处"塔"外的新女性所面临的来自传统性别观念、社会体制及女性自身情感心理因素造成的诸多困境,提示人们需对英国当代女性兼顾家庭与工作时所遭遇到的现实问题作进一步思考。
[Abstract]:Babel is a novel written by British writer Byatt against the backdrop of three waves of British feminist movements in the 20th century. The novel is rewritten through a metamorphosis of the old Christian Bible story. Renews the Babel Tower, which was originally the "holy word" of God and authority, into the image of Bran Manor, which symbolizes the "tower" of the "patriarchal center" in the traditional Western cultural thought. The three traditional women who live in the manor who represent the image of "angel" and the manor Nigel, who represent the absolute authority of men, and Nigel, who want to pursue intellectual life and desire to realize their life value by participating in social affairs. " The contradictions and conflicts between the devil, Fred Rika, Taking Fredrica as prism, the new women who were outside the tower in the 1960s face many difficulties caused by the traditional gender concept, social system and women's own emotional and psychological factors, from different angles, and reflect the difficulties caused by the traditional gender concept, the social system and the emotional and psychological factors of the women themselves. It suggests that people need to think further about the practical problems encountered by contemporary women in Britain when they combine family and work.
