从叙事时间和叙事空间角度对《榆树下的欲望》中欲望主题的分析

【摘要】：尤金·奥尼尔,“现代美国戏剧之父”,是美国戏剧史上唯一一位获得过四次普利策奖和诺贝尔文学奖的戏剧家。以1850年的新英格兰为背景,《榆树下的欲望》以一种直接大胆的方式展现了主人公们强烈的欲望,也给奥尼尔带来了巨大的声誉。本文旨在从叙事时间(时序、时频和时距)和叙事空间(加布里尔·佐伦的地质空间理论,亨利·列斐伏尔的社会空间理论以及特蕾莎·布里奇曼的空间关系理论)角度对欲望的主题进行三个层次(强烈的物欲、扭曲的肉欲以及高尚的精神之爱)的分析。论文包括引言、四个章节以及结论。引言部分简要介绍了尤金·奥尼尔、《榆树下的欲望》、前人对《榆树下的欲望》的研究以及论文的结构。第一章简要介绍了该论文所用到的叙事时间和叙事空间理论。第二章运用了叙事时间理论中的倒叙和重复以及叙事空间理论中地质空间的理论研究了强烈的物欲的主题。第三章运用了叙事时间理论中重复、倒叙、预叙以及叙事空间理论中社会空间的理论研究了扭曲的肉欲的主题。第四章运用了叙事时间理论中的预叙、场景,以及空间关系理论研究了崇高的爱的主题。结论部分简要总结了本文的研究内容和意义。综上所述,本文从叙事时间以及叙事空间的角度分析了奥尼尔的《榆树下的欲望》中欲望的主题。本文既有助于我们理解奥尼尔的叙事风格和写作手法,更有助于我们对作品中欲望主题的深入探讨。
[Abstract]:Eugene O'Neill, Father of Modern American Drama, is the only dramatist in the history of American drama who has won four Pulitzer Prize and the Nobel Prize for Literature. Set in New England in 1850, desire under the Elm reveals the heroine's strong desire in a direct and bold way, and also brings O'Neill a great reputation. This paper aims at narrative time (timing, time-frequency and time-space) and narrative space (Gabriel Zoran's theory of geological space). Henry Lefefort's theory of social space and Theresa Bridgman's theory of spatial relations analyze the theme of desire in three levels (strong material desire, distorted carnal desire and noble spiritual love). The paper includes introduction, four chapters and conclusions. The introduction briefly introduces Eugene O'Neill, desire under Elm, the previous researches on desire under Elm and the structure of the thesis. The first chapter briefly introduces the narrative time and narrative space theory used in this paper. In the second chapter, the narrative time theory and the narrative space theory are used to study the theme of strong material desire. The third chapter studies the theme of distorted carnal desire by using the theories of repetition, flashback, prenarration and social space in narrative time theory. Chapter four studies the sublime theme of love by using the narration, the scene, and the spatial relation theory in the narrative time theory. The conclusion part briefly summarizes the research content and significance of this paper. To sum up, this paper analyzes the theme of desire in O'Neill 's desire under the Elm from the perspective of narrative time and narrative space. This paper not only helps us to understand O'Neill 's narrative style and writing techniques, but also helps us to explore the theme of desire in our works.
