约翰·克莱尔早中期诗歌中“吉普赛景观”研究

英国地方书写杰出诗人约翰·克莱尔通过诗性书写故乡景观的萧条现状,不仅呈现了十九世纪初期英格兰中东部乡村景观的巨变,更表达了他对乡村居民和吉普赛人文化身份困境的深切关注,因此其诗歌景观书写中的牧歌传统和诗歌审美、吉普赛人物刻画及诗人的阶级与地方身份认同等备受关注,但他对吉普赛文化的态度鲜入学者视界。基于这一现状,本论文以科斯格罗夫的景观观看论为文学批评策略,采用定性分析和文本细读的研究方法,剖析诗人早中期诗歌地方景观书写中的吉普赛元素,尤其是吉普赛人对自我文化身份的坚守及诗人对这一行为的凝视,进而探究诗人在新文化语境下对自我文化身份认同的焦虑与寻求。具体而言,本论文从吉普赛与非吉普赛景观书写两个层面,探究诗人对自我文化身份认同的寻求及这一寻求的本质。论文首先聚焦“黑暗”且“有界”的非吉普赛世界沦为失乐园的表征及其原因,揭示诗人对非吉普赛景观和乡村居民生活状况日益恶化的焦虑;然后拉长历史镜头至圈地运动及工业革命时期,剖析诗人因乡村民俗文化衰落、传统生活方式被连根拔起及其自身与主流社会在伦理、宗教和审美价值观上的冲突,对自我文化身份定位的异常困惑与焦虑。其后,论文通过研析诗人所构建的类田园牧...
