小说《秘史》批评研究

美国作家多娜·塔特的小说《秘史》以其古典文学背景、优美的文笔和引人入胜的情节而被誉为当代的经典。本文主要研究了小说的古希腊渊源,集中讨论了三个问题:古希腊思想是如何影响小说的艺术创作的;欧里庇得斯的悲剧《酒神的女祭司》如何在小说中得以再现;小说与欧氏这部悲剧是否具有全面的可比性。关于小说创作思想的古希腊渊源,笔者从亚里士多德在《诗学》中提出的戏剧理论里找到了相当有说服力的解答。亚氏理论中的主要观点,包括由偶然中的必然而引起“怜悯与恐惧”,引起恐惧与怜悯的情境,突变与发现交织的复杂情节,以及“可信的不可能”与“不可信的可能”等均对小说《秘史》创作有重要的影响。欧里庇得斯的悲剧《酒神的女祭司》在小说中从不同角度得以再现,并且对小说情节的发展起到关键作用。基于亚氏的戏剧理论,笔者认为小说《秘史》与悲剧《酒神的女祭司》具有全面的可比性,并从情节、人物与主题等方面将小说与悲剧做出对比。欧氏悲剧中所反映的古希腊悲剧主题,包括人类认知的局限性、罪与罚、生死观、命运观等均在小说中得到充分的体现。可以说《秘史》独特的艺术魅力与其古典文学背景是密不可分的。
