《呼啸山庄》中的真实自我追寻

　　艾米莉·勃朗特是19世纪英国最杰出的作家之一,她凭借着唯一的小说《呼啸山庄》奠定了她在英国文学史上的地位。《呼啸山庄》因其神秘的特点曾一度饱受争议,所以尽管艾米莉具有丰富的想象力和文学创作的天赋,她在死后才被公认为是一个出色的小说家。一些评论家认为《呼啸山庄》是一部激进的、不符合传统道德观念的小说,甚至与当时维多利亚社会的普遍价值观是背道而驰的。然而,艾米莉的小说创作并不是为了迎合大众,而是为了清楚地阐明个人发展和社会期待之间的互相影响的关系。她有意并大胆地揭露人性中黑暗的一面,以此来证明人的心理状态很容易受到社会的要求和个人的欲望影响。在这种情况下,只有坚持自我才能获得真正的幸福。本篇论文探究了两代人努力寻求真实自我的过程。小说中的第一部分是围绕着凯瑟琳和希斯克利夫的曲折经历讲述的,反映出他们最激烈的情绪和充满占有欲的关系。一开始,他们认为财富和地位是建立一段幸福和稳定的关系必不可少的条件,因此他们认为财富和地位比真实自我更重要。然而,他们的爱情还是以痛苦和死亡告终。只有在临死的时候,他们才重新获得真实的自我并以此得到些许安慰。与第一代人扭曲的爱不同,以小凯瑟琳和哈里顿为代表的第二代...
