TED演讲中有关中国的叙事研究
[Abstract]:With the rise of China, the world is paying more and more attention to China. As one of the most popular speech platforms in the world, the TED conference is increasingly focused on China. Based on a sample of 50 lectures on China (6 of which are on China), which were searched on TED's website, this paper explores in depth from the perspective of narratology how to view China and how to tell about China in a scholarly TED speech. It explores the western mainstream society's cognition of China, and then provides reference for China to tell Chinese stories well. Through content analysis, text analysis and case analysis, this paper studies the image and narrative strategy of China in TED speech. From the analysis of the content of the sample, we can see that the negative portrayal of the Chinese image in the TED speech is mostly in the social, environmental protection, religious and other aspects, while the positive description is mostly the achievement of economic construction after the reform and opening up. It is not difficult to see that these elite scholars have a certain degree of understanding of China in fields involving their own specialties, such as economists' views and affirmation of the economic development model with Chinese characteristics, but in general they still cannot really understand the rise of China. Or can not fully understand China's development path. The reasons are inertia thinking, the unequal communication of information between China and the West, and the difference of ideology, which leads to the prejudice and misunderstanding of Chinese elite scholars. On the other hand, because of the academic nature of the TED conference and the diversity of the audience, it requires that the content of the speech should not only retain the academic professional standard but also take into account the acceptance of the audience. Therefore, TED speech adopts the model of "academic" and "story" in narrative strategy. The professional standard of the speaker is the vague expression of self-view, balanced discourse narration and the use of data. Aiming at the misunderstanding of various aspects of Chinese image by western scholars in TED speech, this paper aims to explain the Chinese system, eliminate historical bias, draw lessons from the narrative strategy of TED speech mode and make our voice heard, so that the world can see a reality. Friendly, peaceful development of China's image.
