[Abstract]:The Dubliners is a collection of short stories by James Joyce, a famous modern Irish novelist in early 20th century. It describes the moral, political or spiritual numbness of the Dubliners. It is recognized as a mirror reflecting Dublin life. This paper selects the relevant articles in Dubliners and tries to use the critical methods of psychoanalysis, cultural research and post-colonial study. A systematic study of the thematic significance of the Dubliners is carried out. The first chapter analyzes how the theme of alienation of human nature in Dubliners is embodied in the two stories of "chance encounter" and "just like it". It mainly analyzes how Joyce reveals the Irish people under colonial education and colonial rule. Distorted humanity. And this reflects the theme of alienation of human nature in Dublin Man. Chapter two illustrates the theme of emotional paralysis in Dubliners by studying Evelyn and a Cloud. Emotional paralysis is an inaccessible gap between the sexes. The Irish are always frustrated not only in love but also in marriage. Joyce portrays Evelyn's ability to lose love. Little Chandler's plight in marriage and love reveals the theme of Dubliners' emotional paralysis. Chapter three discusses the theme of spiritual emptiness in "after the car race" and "the two knights". The two stories reflect the absurdity of the Irish in their pursuit of human values and in the pursuit of what they call success. Joyce's vivid description of the spiritual wasteland of the Dubliners is a true reflection of the spiritual emptiness of the Dubliners. Chapter 4th explores the thematic significance of Irish national death in Sisters and the Dead. In Sisters, the death of a Catholic godfather always haunts the living; The lively gathering in the Dead can not conceal the numbness of the Dubliners' collective. Joyce's portrayal of the spiritual state of the Dubliners' collective profoundly reveals the theme of why Irish nationality is still alive and dead. The Dubliners reveal the spiritual state of the Dubliners at the end of 19th century and early 20th century. This article aims to better understand Irish society before independence by exploring the multiple themes of this collection of novels. Study the theme meaning in Dubliners. We can understand people's living state, social reality and Joyce's feelings of love and hate to their country and their people in a certain historical period, so it has certain literary and social significance.
