[Abstract]:Indian oral culture has a long history and rich connotation, but the limitation of oral communication makes it in danger of extinction. How to continue to develop Indian culture in a strong white culture has become an arduous task for Indian scholars. In 1969, American Indian writer Mamadi's novel "House of Dawn" won the Pulitzer Prize for Literature. This award caused a great sensation in American literary circles, and American Indian literature began to attract widespread attention. How to construct an American Indian cultural identity has become an important part of the protection of Native Indian culture. Through the description of Abel's life experience in House of Dawn, Momadi analyzes the reasons for the confusion of Indian young people's identity. The core question of this thesis is: what should the cultural identity of Native American Indians consist of? In this paper, we use trauma theory to analyze the causes of the identity crisis of our host, Abel, according to Jeffrey Alexander's definition of cultural trauma. Discovered that the cultural trauma of the Indian nation was the main cause of the crisis of their own cultural identity. The three Native Indian stories spoken by Abel through others and the experience of returning home, In this paper, the author argues that the House of Dawn expresses the writer's attachment to the land and the recognition of the Native Indian tradition. This attachment and identity is an important element in the construction of the American Indian cultural identity, and the construction of the cultural identity of the Native Indian nation is an important method to heal the wounds of the American Indian nation.
