[Abstract]:In early 20th century, the mainstream gender concept in British society was still influenced by the Victorian vestige that women were gentle, weak, and sensual "family angels" and that men were supposed to be in politics because they had strong bodies and rational minds. Economic and social life dominated. However, in late 19th century and early 20th century, the first feminist movement swept across Britain. "New Women" and "frivolous Girls," the gender mainstream came under attack. "the Abyss" (by Radcliffe Hall) and "Orlando" (by Virginia Woolf) were published in 1928. The portrayal of the complex concept of gender. After the two novels came out, There have been many scholars who have interpreted it from a variety of perspectives, such as text, social environment, gender theory, etc., but there are few examples of juxtaposition of the two novels. Therefore, this paper intends to take Judith Butler's theory of gender narration as the perspective. A comparative study of the two novels was carried out to explore the sex of the body in the two novels. Different answers to the relationship between gender and Sex. This paper argues that although the Abyss of solitude has shaped the first public image of female transgressors in British society in 20th century, However, because of the use of the sexual theory of the time without thinking, he was deeply trapped in the heterosexual social norms and did not bring a way out for the wrong sex or other sex-marginalized people; and Orlando, in the absurd circumstances of the protagonist's transgender and cross-dressing, Misplacing body sex, social gender and sex, challenging the one-to-one relationship between heterosexual norms, creating a free individual utopia with no gender awareness for homosexuals. This paper will provide a new theoretical perspective for the interpretation of the two novels and analyze identity politics from the three dimensions of body sex, social gender and sex phase. And thinking about the heterosexual regulatory power embodied in the text.
