[Abstract]:Wallace Stevens, an American modernist poet, spent his life exploring the meaning of language and poetry to the world and modern people's lives. In his first book of poetry, the Reed organ, the poet uses the sound of poetic language and its unique rhythmic characteristics to give readers different perceptions and guide people to think about life. Based on Stevens' poetic theory, this paper explores the role of sound in Stevens' poetry from three aspects. First of all, this paper points out that Stevens' poetry uses a large number of sound images, including natural sound images and human sound images, which shows that sound in poetry is not only a rhythmic element or a limited rhetorical device. And it is an integral part of unique poetics. Secondly, the author explores the application of vocal pattern in the collection of poems. That is, from the three angles of homophonic sounds, repetition of words and phrases, and musical changes of poetic themes, it explains how poets use sound rhythm to create poetry. Finally, the paper expounds the bridge between the poetry and the reader by the perceptual sound, and at the same time, it can convey the poet's point of view to the reader. On the one hand, from the changes and movements of sound and melody itself, a kinesthesia is created to show that language itself can resonate with the reader and produce practical significance. While reading poetry, kinesthetic sensation is a kind of feeling that readers feel as if they are in a situation with the sound of poetry and the movement of its melody at the same time. On the other hand, from the angle of poetic sound and painting color, it explains that both sound and color can reflect human consciousness, and explain the commonality of poetry and painting. In a word, this paper studies Stevens' poems from a relatively new angle. Based on the study of the poetic sound in Stevens' Book of Poems spring organ, this paper not only explores the unique role of Stevens' poetic sound: sound as the main material of poetry, to express the poet's poetic theory; It also elaborates the process of the theory of sound expression poetics, that is, sound, as a kind of perception, can resonate with readers.
