[Abstract]:As one of the most outstanding writers in English literary world, Ian McEw has published many excellent works. He actively explores a number of ethical topics in his works, such as violence, growth, death, love, etc. Since its publication in 2001, Atonement has been widely recognized by critics and many ordinary readers. With his superb narrative skills, McEwan led the reader to appreciate the different ethical landscape. The novel has a bright structure and is divided into three parts and an end. Her 13-year-old daughter, a gifted writer, wrongly accused her sister's lover, Robbie, of raping her cousin Laura, and Robbie went to prison. Three and a half years later, Robbie came out of prison and went to war, and Briony became a Red Cross medical worker. At the same time, she began to write novels to record the story between the three of them. When she saw her sister and Robbie again, she repented deeply. Unfortunately, this meeting is just Briony's beautiful fiction. Old Briony finally told the truth that the couple had died during the war. Based on the theory of literary ethical criticism, this paper expounds the application of various narrative techniques in the novel, and interprets the ethics inside and outside the text at various levels. The ethical interpretation in the text mainly focuses on Briony's crime and redemption, human nature and war ethics. The ethical interpretation outside the text focuses on the ethical relationship between the author, the reader and the Britney. The paper is divided into five chapters: the first chapter introduces the basic information of the author's works, summarizes the domestic and foreign research status of Atonement and puts forward the significance and methods of this paper. The second chapter analyzes the ethical thread revealed by various narrative techniques-Briony's sin and redemption. This paper first discusses the narrative space and time of collage and the structural features of the Book in the book. Then using the analysis of zero focus, multiple focus and internal focus to explain the formation of Briony's sin is actually her difficult choice in the ethical dilemma. Then, this paper describes her atonement process, including her efforts in reality and literature for atonement. The first section of the third chapter draws the conclusion that human nature is complex by deeply discussing the formation of Briony's crime, thus excavating the ethical appeal that the author calls on us to face the complexity of human nature. In the second section, the author analyzes the cruelty of war from the perspective of Robbie and Briony, and explains the ethical demands of the author to maintain world peace and atone for war. The fourth chapter analyzes the ethical relationship between McEwan, Briony and readers. The ethical implication of the narrator's unreliable narration is to narrow the distance between the reader and her and to enhance the reader's understanding of her ethical dilemma and choice. The true author McEwan manipulates the fate of the characters in the novel through Briony as a spokesman to express his ethical thoughts and hope that readers can gain their own ethical thinking in the process of reading. The fifth chapter is a summary of the full text. From the point of view of narrative techniques, the ethical interpretation of Atonement is not to find out who is guilty, but to analyze the crime and redemption of Briony in the novel. Causes the reader to the self existence and the entire human society "the crime and the redemption" the profound thought.
