论《法国中尉的女人》中的颠覆

【摘要】:约翰·福尔斯是英国20世纪60年代以来文坛颇具创新精神的小说家。他的代表作《法国中尉的女人》从1969年问世以来,一直备受学术界和读者的关注。其人物刻画与小说叙事形式都从根本上颠覆了作者、人物和读者的传统角色和地位。本文从内容、形式、意识形态三个层面揭示福尔斯对维多利亚传统和全知叙事的颠覆以及对历史的质疑,从而加深对小说的主题、人物和情节的理解。论文共分为三部分:第一章,论述小说两个主要人物形象的颠覆性。两个主角都生活在传统思想被禁锢的维多利亚时代,代表着新女性的萨拉颠覆了父权男女关系和传统的主仆关系。查尔斯作为典型的维多利亚绅士,却在政治、宗教、婚姻等方面与绅士理念格格不入。他们忍受了艰难,与传统抗争,最终都获得了重生。第二章强调叙事手法的颠覆性,分别从戏仿、叙事视角和叙事结构三个方面展开论述。福尔斯打破了真实与虚拟、传统与现实的界限,颠覆了共时单线条的叙事结构。多变的叙事角度给了读者、作者和叙述者最大的自由。第三章从深层挖掘小说中的意识形态。作者运用知识、权利、边缘话语权解构了维多利亚的历史,通过探索被官方历史忽略的细节,颠覆传统的宏大叙事,让人们在人类历史的进程中更加关注历史中的断层。福尔斯作品中所传达的颠覆意识体现了作者对二十世纪后半叶小说创作的全新认识和小说美学的新观念,为当代小说的发展提供了多样化、灵活性的发展方向。
[Abstract]:John Fowles is an innovative novelist in British literature since 1960 s. His masterpiece, the French Lieutenant's woman, has attracted the attention of academia and readers since it was published in 1969. Both the portrayal of the characters and the narrative form of the novel fundamentally subvert the traditional roles and status of the author, the characters and the readers. This paper reveals Fowles' subversion of Victorian tradition and omniscience narration and doubts about history from three aspects of content, form and ideology, so as to deepen his understanding of the theme, characters and plot of the novel. The thesis is divided into three parts: the first chapter discusses the subversion of the two main characters in the novel. Both protagonists lived in the Victorian era when traditional ideas were imprisoned, and Sarah, who represented the new woman, subverted the patriarchal relationship and the traditional master-servant relationship. Charles, as a typical Victorian gentleman, is out of line with gentleman ideas in politics, religion, marriage and so on. They put up with difficulties, fought with tradition, and were eventually reborn. The second chapter emphasizes the subversion of narrative techniques, which are discussed from three aspects: parody, narrative perspective and narrative structure. Fowles broke the boundary between reality and virtual, tradition and reality, and subverted the narrative structure of synchronic and single line. The changeable narrative angle gives the reader, the author and the narrator the greatest freedom. The third chapter excavates the ideology in the novel deeply. The author uses knowledge, rights and marginal discourse to decomstruct Victoria's history. By exploring the details ignored by the official history and subverting the traditional grand narrative, people pay more attention to the faults in history in the process of human history. The subversive consciousness conveyed in Fowles's works embodies the author's new understanding of novel creation and novel aesthetics in the second half of the 20th century, and provides a diversified and flexible development direction for the development of contemporary novels.
