权力与反抗——评缪丽尔·斯帕克的小说《布罗迪小姐的青春》

苏格兰天主教女作家缪丽尔·斯帕克(Muriel Spark, 1918-2006)是战后小说家中独树一帜的人物,是公认的讽刺家、超现实主义作家以及道德家。她以敏锐的洞察力、过人的才智和非凡的创作才能,不断尝试文学创作,作品涉猎广泛、体裁多样。其代表作《布罗迪小姐的青春》更是使她的写作事业达到了巅峰。《布罗迪小姐的青春》揭露了控制与反抗、虔诚与虚伪、信任与怀疑、支持与背叛等或矛盾或对立的关系。小说独特的艺术风格、特殊的爱丁堡背景、典型的苏格兰人的特性思维方式以及语言风格受到了评论界的高度评价。本论文则通过运用福柯的权力理论,以及权力与真理,权力与话语的关系来揭示文中人物关系之间所隐藏的人际关系权力网,以及由权力所引起的反抗,发现权力与反抗这种永动的并存关系和反抗的意义及局限性。布罗迪小姐作为这张人际关系权力网的核心,在论文所分析的两组权力——反抗关系中分别充当了反抗和控制两个角色。这种角色的转换使得这张权力网变得更加复杂和生动。表面上看似掌握控制权的布罗迪实际是在以这种方式进行着反抗,而无论是哪种反抗方式,她终究还是失败了。因为在强大的旧势力面前,个人的力量显得太过渺小。与以往的研究有所...
