重点高中和普通高中英语课堂教师语码转换对比与探究

【摘要】:英语课堂的语码转换主要指课堂上师生在英文和中文之间的轮换使用。虽然语码转换在外语课堂上的使用一度饱受争议,但在中国外语学习环境下,课堂上进行语码转换已成了一种常见的现象。本文基于前人关于语码转换的研究,选取福建省2所省级重点高中和3所普通高中10名英语教师的课堂实录为语料,旨在分析我国高中英语课堂教师语码转换的真实情况。通过对两类学校12堂英语课的转写语料进行对比和分析,本研究发现,中国高中外语课堂普遍存在着一定量母语的使用,但重点中学和普通中学教师课堂语言的使用存在以下异同点:1)重点中学在阅读和词汇课型上课堂用语主要采用英文,而在语法和练习讲评课上,则主要采用中文。普通中学教师所有课堂都主要用中文进行授课;2)重点中学教师的语码转换以句间转换为主,而普通中学则以中英夹杂的句内转换为主;3)从语码转换功能来看,以英文为主的课堂,教师转向中文主要是为了进行翻译和课堂管理。以中文为主的课堂,教师转向英文主要是为了进行阐释、翻译、提问、语言示范、讲解语法词汇等教学活动。其中重点中学教师所使用英文一部分来自文本材料,另一部分为教师用英文进行相应的教学,普通中学教师所使用的英文则主要依赖文本。另外,重点中学教师还转向英文进行与教学相关的课堂管理,但很少用英文进行表达情感等维持人际的相关交流,普通中学教师很少用英文进行课堂管理和维持人际。4)两类学校教师在进行语法词汇讲解时,都主要采用了中文中嵌入英文短语词汇的语码转换模式;5)总体上,普通中学教师课堂目标语的使用量偏低且以来源于文本的短语、词汇为主。最后,文章基于研究发现提出了目标语优先、尽量保持语言完整性以及有标记地使用语码转换等建议。
[Abstract]:Code-switching in English classrooms mainly refers to the rotation between teachers and students in English and Chinese. Although the use of code-switching in foreign language classrooms was once controversial, in the context of foreign language learning in China, Code-switching has become a common phenomenon in the classroom. Based on the previous researches on code-switching, this paper selects the classroom records of 10 English teachers from 2 provincial key high schools and 3 ordinary senior high schools in Fujian Province as the corpus. The purpose of this study is to analyze the real situation of code-switching among senior high school English teachers in China. By comparing and analyzing the transposed corpus of 12 English classes in two kinds of schools, this study finds that there is generally a certain amount of native language use in Chinese senior high school foreign language classes. However, there are the following similarities and differences in the use of classroom language between key middle schools and ordinary middle school teachers: 1) key middle schools mainly use English as classroom language in reading and vocabulary teaching, while in grammar and practice and comment classes, The key middle school teachers' code-switching is mainly inter-sentence conversion, while the ordinary middle school teachers mainly use Chinese-English inner-sentence conversion) from the perspective of the function of code-switching, In English-based classrooms, teachers turn to Chinese for translation and classroom management. Teachers turn to English for interpretation, translation, questioning, and language demonstration. Teaching activities such as explaining grammar and vocabulary. One part of English used by key middle school teachers comes from text materials, the other part is teachers teaching in English, and the English used by ordinary middle school teachers mainly depends on text. Key middle school teachers also turned to English for teaching-related classroom management, but rarely used English to express emotion and maintain interpersonal communication. General middle school teachers seldom use English for classroom management and maintain interpersonal. 4) when explaining grammar vocabulary, the two kinds of school teachers mainly adopt the code-switching mode of embedding English phrase vocabulary in Chinese. The usage of the target language in the classroom of middle school teachers is on the low side, and it is mainly based on the phrase and vocabulary from the text. Finally, based on the findings of the study, the paper proposes that the target language should be given priority. Try to keep the integrity of the language and marked use of code-switching and other recommendations.
