The Dong nationality living in Guizhou has its own special marriage custom, especially its "brown film ritual" and "welcoming the love lamp". When young men and women get engaged, they both give each other a small gift, which seems to be a matter of convention. However, the engagement gift of Dong young men and women is a very special gift-brown film gift. The brown gift is a piece of brown wrapped in two things: one is a yellow straw paper wrapped in half a catty of salt, and the other is a pair of tea wrapped in white paper.
