《中镇》的遗产

【摘要】：美国印第安纳州的曼西小城是林德夫妇的《中镇:美国当代文化研究》的田野调查点。《中镇》出版后,曼西成为美国社会的典型代表。但是典型性从一开始就成了中镇研究的中心问题。尤其是,当人们对美国社会的多元文化的理解成为主流时,曼西是"中镇"——一个典型的美国社区的观点很难维系下去了。但是,中镇研究的传统仍然具有价值。《中镇》的丰富性吸引了研究者和观察者一次又一次返回曼西小城,形成了大量的分析、阐释和关于一个平凡无奇的社区的经验数据,而这种丰富性仍将继续吸引着寻求理解美国的学者和新闻记者。
[Abstract]:The small town of Manci, Indiana, is the field investigation point of Linde's Midtown: a study of American Contemporary Culture. After the publication of Midtown, Manci became a typical representative of American society. But typicality has become the central problem in the study of middle towns from the beginning. In particular, when people's understanding of the multiculturalism of American society becomes mainstream, the view that Manci is a "middle town"-a typical American community, is difficult to sustain. However, the tradition of the study of the middle town is still valuable. The richness of the town attracts researchers and observers to return to Manci again and again, forming a lot of analysis, interpretation and empirical data about an ordinary community. And this richness will continue to attract scholars and journalists seeking to understand the United States.
