[Abstract]:Since the end of the 19th century, Ciley, Lucas and Aggleton have noticed the history of the British Empire, but the history of the British Empire is not written in the same academic and political context. Ciley supported the imperial federalism and regarded the state as the main object of historical research. He believed that the British Empire was the expansion of the English state, and that its writing of the history of the British Empire merely continued to clean up the historical heritage of Macaulay. He did not have the conscious consciousness to open up a new field because he reorganized the thought of British history. The subjectivization and popularization of the history of the British Empire benefited from the upsurge of imperial research after the fall of the Imperial Federalism. Lucas and Aggleton play an important role in it and can be regarded as the main promoters of the research and teaching framework of British imperial history. Their personal role and moral preaching in the writing of the history of the British Empire are more obvious, and this is related to their intention to prove that the British Empire is a "good empire" and to uphold the legitimacy of imperial rule.
