[Abstract]:The rise of Europe's right-wing populist parties and Trump's victory in the US election mark the collapse of the "post-1989" era of progressive political order and the anti-liberal impulse of Western democracy. The threatened majority has become the main force in politics, and the threat to the majority is in fact a fear of the imminent collapse of the moral order. The current political turmoil in Europe and the United States cannot simply be interpreted as the rebellion of economic losers in globalization. The immigration crisis shows that the opposition between left and right has been replaced by conflicts between internationalists and nativists. Immigration is a revolution that could trigger a counter-revolutionary movement in Europe and lead to a populist shift, disintegrating democratic and liberal coalitions, and the potential for governments to regain control at the expense of individual liberty. Under the shock of non-liberal democracy, the prospect of liberal democracy is worrying.
