尊重与压制：论基督教在西方女性婚姻地位变化过程中的影响

享誉世界的二十世纪法国作家,西蒙娜·德·波伏娃在其女性主义经典之作《第二性》中指出:“女人并不是生就的,而宁可说是逐渐形成的。”女性的发展必定要受到自身所处的社会文化条件的制约和影响。同样的道理,女性的婚姻地位是自身所处的社会文化条件的产物,是在历史的影响与现实的制约中逐步形成的。西方女性的婚姻地位是在西方社会文化的影响下而逐渐形成的。当代西方婚姻中的双方同意原则,一夫一妻制和夫妻权利平等的规范使西方女性在婚姻中享有较高的地位。而当今西方世界的这些婚姻规范不是天生的,是在基督教的影响下发展而来。因此,了解基督教在西方女性婚姻地位变化过程中的影响对理解当今西方女性状况有着极其必要的意义。基督教对婚姻的看法和对女性在婚姻中的定位极大改变了西方女性在婚姻中的地位。在基督教成为西方主流宗教之前,西方女性生活在古希腊罗马和蛮族社会中。古代西方世界的习俗和法律将婚姻中的女性置于卑微的地位。基督教在中世纪欧洲成为主要宗教。基督教对女性婚姻地位的观点一方面继承了古希腊罗马社会对女性压制的传统。另一方面基督教又尊重女性在婚姻中的地位并在现实中加以保护。本文试通过对基督教形成前和基督教成为主流文化的中世纪...
