基于语料库的中国英语学习者词块使用研究

【摘要】:词块是指出现频率较高的多词表达,其作用在于使语言表达更加流利地道。鉴于其重要性和常见型,词块已经引起了学界的广泛关注。但目前词块研究主要集中讨论其词汇、语法特征以及认知、交际功能等,语料以日常英语为主,对学术语篇中词块使用的探讨不足,对不同水平英语学习者目的语词块的研究尤为阙如。鉴于此,本文以Biber等(1999)对词块的定义以及Hyland(2008)的功能分类为基础,以自建学术论文语料库为数据来源,主要探讨我国不同水平英语学习者学术语篇中词块的使用情况。具体来说,本文旨在解决以下问题:(1)在学术论文写作中,不同学历层次英语学习者对词块的总体使用情况如何?与英语本族语者之间有何差异?(2)在学术论文中,不同学历层次英语学习者对研究型词块的使用情况如何?与英语本族语者之间有何差异?(3)在学术论文中,不同学历层次英语学习者对文本型词块的使用情况如何?与英语本族语者之间有何差异?(4)在学术论文中,不同学历层次英语学习者对参与型词块的使用情况如何?与英语本族语者之间有何差异?研究发现:(1)与本族语学者相比,中国英语学习者使用的词块总量更大。(2)与本族语学者相比,中国英语学习者使用研究型词块较少,但是数量随着教育水平的提高而逐渐上升。具体来看,地点、过程、数量、描述和主题这5类词块数量变化呈现不同的发展模式,但总体来看随着教育水平的提高不断向本族语者靠近。(3)与本族语学者相比,中国英语学习者使用过多的文本型词块。随着教育水平的提高,数量先上升后下降,然后逐渐趋于平稳,与本族语学者使用情况相似。具体来看,转换、结果、框架和结构类词块呈现相同的发展模式,数量先上升后下降,整体变化趋势逐渐平稳。(4)与本族语学者相比,中国英语学习者使用参与型词块较少。该类词块虽然占比最小,但是仍然很重要。随着教育水平的提高,数量整体呈上升趋势。介入型和立场型词块均随着教育水平的提高而不断增加,与本族语者使用情况差异较大。本研究具有一定的的理论和实践意义。在理论上,本研究证明词块是语言产出的重要组成成分,并发现教育水平与词块使用之间具有较高的相关性。在实践上,能否恰当使用词块可以作为衡量学术论文写作的一个重要指标,其研究结果对学术论文写作,教学以及教材编纂等,具有一定的借鉴和参考价值。
[Abstract]:The expression of multi word lexical chunks refer to high frequency, its function is to make the language more fluent and idiomatic. In view of its importance and common type of lexical chunks has aroused widespread concern in academic circles. But at present the research on lexical chunks mainly focus on its vocabulary, grammatical features and cognitive, communicative function, daily corpus English, the academic discourse of lexical chunks of insufficient English learners on different levels of the target block word is particularly lacking. In view of this, this paper uses Biber (1999) of the definition of lexical chunks and Hyland (2008) functional classification based on self built corpus of academic papers as the data source. The main study use discourse of lexical chunks in English learning at different levels in China are discussed. Specifically, this paper aims to solve the following problems: (1) in academic writing, different levels of English learners to make overall lexical chunks With how? What are the differences between English and native speakers? (2) in academic papers, how different levels of English learners to use lexical research? What are the differences between English and native speakers? (3) in academic papers, how different levels of English learners to use the text type of lexical chunks? What are the differences between English and native speakers? (4) in academic papers, different levels of English learners to participate in the use of type of lexical chunks? What is the difference between English and native speakers? The study found: (1) compared with the native scholars, the total Chinese English lexical chunks the learners use more. (2) compared with the native scholars, China English learners use lexical research less, but with the improvement of education level gradually increased. Specifically, place, process, quantity, description and the theme of the 5 classes of words number The amount of change presents different models of development, but overall with the improvement of education level gets closer to the native speakers. (3) compared with the native scholars, China English learners use text chunks more. With the improvement of education level, the number increased after the first drop, then gradually stabilized, and native scholars the use of similar. Specifically, conversion results, structure and type of lexical chunks showed the same pattern, the number increased after the first drop, the overall trend is gradually stable. (4) compared with the native scholars, Chinese English learners use in lexical chunks. This kind of lexical chunks, although less than the minimum total. But it is still very important. With the improvement of education level, the number of the overall upward trend. In type and position of lexical chunks with higher education level increased, and native speakers of English are quite different. This study Have a certain theoretical and practical significance. In theory, this study proves that lexical chunks is an important component of language output, and found that there is a high correlation between the level of education and the use of lexical chunks. In practice, proper use of lexical chunks can be used as an important indicator of academic writing, its research results in academic writing, teaching and textbook compiling, has a certain reference value.
