“一笔一世界”—试析萨金特之绘画理念

【摘要】:约翰·辛格尔·萨金特(John Singer Sargent,1856-1925)是19世纪末、20世纪初活跃于欧美画坛,颇具代表性的一位优秀的肖像画大师,同时也是在璀璨的美术史中一位卓越的水彩画大师。萨金特对各种绘画技巧运用皆得心应手。他熟练巧妙的绘画技巧与方法,尤其包括他对事物高度的概括表现;对光影下物象形体的准确捕捉以及他巧妙地将光影与物象形体完美结合的绘画技法;对事物天才般的、敏锐的洞察力与独到的表现力等,这些都是被后人推崇并学习的。缘于对萨金特及其作品的喜爱,本文将通过对萨金特的成长与艺术经历、其绘画风格与绘画理念的研究,以及萨金特绘画理念的价值与意义等方面进行分析、解读,从而更加全面、深层次地了解萨金特的艺术造诣和他的绘画理念。 纵观美术史,对萨金特的绘画理念进行研究的评论家、学者并不在少数。因此,所有这些资料都可以为本人此次研究提供一定的理论参考。为了更加准确并且理性地还原萨金特的绘画理念,本课题的研究出处主要围绕与萨金特同时代的美术评论家对萨金特的研究,同时参考现当代国内外学者对萨金特艺术成就的研究。这些珍贵的资料中最有意义的一份来自于与萨金特同时代的艺术家、传记作家——埃文·爱德华·特里斯爵士(Evan Edward Charteris,1864-1940)所著的传记。特里斯爵士是一位英国传记作家,与萨金特是好友,他在1927年撰写的《John Sargent》一书,是对萨金特的描述最为真实、详尽的一部著作。书中不仅记录了萨金特的成长历程,描述了萨金特本人对艺术的观点,还包括萨金特的家人、朋友、学生提供的内容,以及他同时代一些著名批评家从不同侧面对萨金特的评论。这对于还原萨金特的形象提供了有力并且生动的证据。在书中的第二十三章节,即第181页至第190页,是对萨金特绘画理念的精彩写照。此书此章节就作为笔者此次课题研究的主要研究保障来源。 本文从萨金特高度概括的绘画风格出发,通过将萨金特的艺术特点与同时代其他艺术家的风格特点进行比较,将萨金特的绘画理念具体归纳为以下五点:1、气韵贯通;2、随笔写意;3、光色斑斓;4、音律灵动;5、有感而发。并对萨金特绘画理念的价值与意义进行总结,对萨金特的绘画方法、技巧、思想有一个更直观的体现与还原。从而对萨金特的认识有一个更深入的了解,为本人提供一个向大师学习的机会,并结合自己的艺术实践和体会,指导自己今后的水彩画的学习与创作。
[Abstract]:John Singer Sargentn (1856-1925) is an outstanding master of portrait painting in Europe and the United States from the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century, and is also an outstanding master of watercolor painting in the resplendent art history. Sargent was able to use all kinds of painting skills. His skillful techniques and methods of painting, including, in particular, his general expression of the height of things, the accurate capture of the object form under light and shadow, and his skillful combination of light and image forms; the genius of things, Keen insight and unique performance, these are respected and learned by later generations. Based on the love of Sargent and his works, this paper will analyze and interpret the growth and artistic experience of Sargent, the study of his painting style and concept, and the value and significance of his painting idea. Thus more comprehensive, deep understanding of Sargent's artistic attainments and his painting ideas. Throughout art history, there are not a few critics who study Sargent's painting ideas. Therefore, all these data can provide some theoretical reference for my research. In order to restore Sargent's painting idea more accurately and rationally, the research source of this subject is mainly focused on the research of Sargent by the contemporary art critics. At the same time, refer to the contemporary scholars at home and abroad on Sargent's artistic achievements. The most significant of these valuable materials comes from a biography by Evan Edward Charteris, a contemporary artist and biographer of Sargent. Sir Triss is an English biographer and good friend to Sargent. His 1927 book John Sargent is the truest and most detailed account of Sargent. The book not only records Sargent's growth, describes Sargent's own views on art, but also includes content provided by Sargent's family, friends, and students. And some of his contemporaries' famous critics commented on Sargent from different angles. This provides powerful and vivid evidence to restore Sargent's image. Chapter 23 of the book, pages 181-190, is an excellent portrayal of Sargent's philosophy of painting. This chapter of this book serves as the main research source of the author's research. Starting from Sargent's highly generalized painting style, this paper compares Sargent's artistic characteristics with those of other artists of the same time, and then generalizes Sargent's painting idea into the following five points: 1, with a clear charm; 2, freehand brushwork 3, light colorful 4, rhythm smart 5, want to express views. It also summarizes the value and significance of Sargent's painting idea, and reflects and restores Sargent's painting methods, skills and ideas. In order to have a deeper understanding of Sargent, to provide me with an opportunity to learn from the master, and combined with his own artistic practice and experience, to guide his future study and creation of watercolor painting.
