《红楼梦》中模糊语言的翻译研究

【摘要】：模糊语言是一个有趣而复杂的研究领域，它在人类语言中占相当大的比重并被广泛地使用于口语和书面语。模糊语言在交际中的大量出现在语用上总是有着充足的理由，同时它的灵活使用也有助于实现语言中特定的审美和语用效果，这一切都说明了研究模糊语言的重要意义。众说周知，在中国文学史上《红楼梦》是最著名的古典小说之一，自从1792年第一次出版印刷以来，关于它的意识形态的趋向和艺术价值一直是争议不断。迄今为止，《红楼梦》在国内外有两个比较著名的译本，一个是名为《石头记》的大卫·霍克斯的译本，另一个是杨宪益和他夫人的《红楼梦》译本，其中杨的译本在中国最为流行。可以毫不夸张的说，自从这些译本发行以来的这二十年，关于《红楼梦》的翻译出现了众多的批评之声，也正是在这期间中国古典小说的翻译经历了一次质的飞跃。同时翻译上所取得的这些成就对中国的社会和文化的发展也产生了深远的影响。本论文将以杨宪益的译本为参照，着重讨论《红楼梦》中的模糊语言的汉译英问题。作为中国著名的古典小说，《红楼梦》中包含了大量的负载有丰富文化信息的模糊语言。由于不同的语言可能会用不同的模糊词语来表达相同的概念，所以在翻译时应根据模糊词语中所蕴含的文化内涵灵活地进行处理，而这就要求译者要精通英汉两种语言，尤其是对每一种语言中的习惯用法要相当熟悉。总的来说，本论文首先是从不同民族的民俗文化、历史文化、宗教文化和饮食文化的差异上详细阐述了模糊语言产生的原因及翻译上的困难，接下来，本人借鉴模糊对等的翻译理论对《红楼梦》中具有模糊性的比喻性词语、动物性词语及数词的翻译对策进行了深入的探索，针对具有模糊性的比喻喻体在不同的语言运用中存在的不同的对应关系，本人提出了对等沿用、迁移变换及取神舍形等三种不同译法，而关于具有模糊性的动物性词语的翻译，本人认为主要可采纳直译、换位式译法及复原式译法，另外，可采用直译意译结合法、省略式译法和替换式译法来处理具有模糊性的数词的翻译，其中某些观点具有的一定创新性，最后，本人在结论中对全文进行总结，，认为无论译者在进行模糊语言的跨文化翻译时采用了何种原则和技巧，其最终目的都是要实现模糊语言的动态对等。
[Abstract]:Fuzzy language is an interesting and complex research field, which accounts for a large proportion of human language and is widely used in spoken and written language.There is always a good reason for the appearance of vague language in communication, and its flexible use also contributes to the realization of specific aesthetic and pragmatic effects in language. All of these indicate the importance of studying vague language.It is well known that A Dream of Red Mansions is one of the most famous classical novels in the history of Chinese literature. Since it was first published and printed in 1792, the trend of ideology and the artistic value of it have been controversial.So far, there are two more famous translations of A Dream of Red Mansions at home and abroad, one by David Hawks, the other by Yang Xianyi and his wife.Among them, Yang's translation is the most popular in China.It is no exaggeration to say that the translation of A Dream of Red Mansions has seen a great deal of criticism in the past 20 years since the publication of these translations, and it is during this period that the translation of Chinese classical novels has undergone a qualitative leap.At the same time, these achievements in translation have had a profound impact on the social and cultural development of China.Based on Yang Xianyi's translation, this thesis focuses on the translation of vague languages in A Dream of Red Mansions.As a famous classical novel in China, A Dream of Red Mansions contains a lot of fuzzy language loaded with rich cultural information.Since different languages may use different vague words to express the same concepts, they should be handled flexibly according to the cultural connotations contained in vague words, which requires the translator to be proficient in both English and Chinese.In particular, you should be familiar with idioms in every language.In general, this thesis first elaborates the causes of vague language and translation difficulties from the differences of folk culture, historical culture, religious culture and diet culture of different nationalities.Based on the translation theory of fuzzy equivalence, I have made a deep exploration into the translation strategies of figurative words, animal words and numerals with fuzziness in A Dream of Red Mansions.In view of the different corresponding relations of the fuzzy figurative vehicles in different language use, I put forward three different translation methods, namely, the reciprocal use, the transfer transformation and the taking of the form of the gods, and the translation of the animal words with fuzziness.In my opinion, we can mainly adopt literal translation, transposition translation and restoration translation. In addition, we can use the combination of literal translation and free translation, ellipsis translation and substitution translation to deal with the fuzzy translation of numerals.Some of these ideas are innovative. Finally, in conclusion, I conclude that no matter what principles and techniques the translator has adopted in the cross-cultural translation of vague languages,The ultimate aim is to realize the dynamic equivalence of fuzzy language.
