《天堂蒜薹之歌》英译策略的文化视角研究

【摘要】：中国文学正逐步走向世界,莫言作为中国当代文坛的领军性人物,是中国问鼎诺贝尔文学奖的第一人。莫言的小说有7部被译为英文,其译者均为著名汉学家葛浩文。正是由于葛浩文的英译本,使得莫言在西方世界享有盛誉。《天堂蒜薹之歌》是诺贝尔文学奖获得者莫言于1988年创作的长篇力作,受到海外读者的欢迎。近些年来,国内外译界很少有从文化翻译的角度对葛浩文英译本《天堂蒜薹之歌》进行研究。对莫言作品的研究主要从文学视角切入,对其英译本的深度翻译研究却不多见；另外,对葛浩文的研究大都集中在其个人经历和翻译成就等方面,鲜有结合译者及其某个具体翻译作品展开个案研究。有鉴于此,本文尝试从文化翻译的角度,以《天堂蒜薹之歌》英译本为研究对象,深入研究社会文化,宗教文化和政治文化对其具体翻译策略的影响。研究结果表明,葛浩文《天堂蒜薹之歌》英译本是典型的文化翻译案例。他在小说中一共采用了六种翻译策略。希望通过此个案研究,能够弥补此类研究的不足,加深我们对《天堂蒜薹之歌》英译本的认识,并还能对今后的其他中国当代文学作品的翻译实践有所帮助和启示。
[Abstract]:As a leading figure in contemporary Chinese literature, Mo Yan is the first person to win the Nobel Prize in Literature. Seven of Mo Yan's novels have been translated into English. It is precisely because of the English translation of GE Haowen that Mo Yan enjoys a high reputation in the western world. Song of the garlic bolting in Heaven is a long work by Mo Yan, the Nobel Prize winner in literature, in 1988, and is welcomed by overseas readers. In recent years, the translation circles at home and abroad have seldom studied the English translation of GE Haowen, the Song of the garlic Bolt of Heaven, from the perspective of cultural translation. The study of Mo Yan's works is mainly from the perspective of literature, but the in-depth translation of his English translation is rare. In addition, most of the studies on his works focus on his personal experience and translation. Few case studies have been carried out in combination with the translator and a specific translation work. In view of this, this paper attempts to study the influence of social culture, religious culture and political culture on the translation strategies from the perspective of cultural translation. The results show that the English translation of GE Haowen's the Song of the garlic Bolt in Heaven is a typical case of cultural translation. He has adopted six translation strategies in his novels. It is hoped that this case study can make up for the deficiency of this kind of study, deepen our understanding of the English translation of the Song of the garlic bolting in Heaven, and help and enlighten the translation practice of other contemporary Chinese literature works in the future.
