[Abstract]:The family is the cell of society. It is an indicator of social development, crisis, and problems. In the history of literature, it has always been the garden of hard work of writers and produced a large number of works. The first half of the 20th century was a special period, and the family novels became the highlight of the literary world for a time. In the West, Thomas Mann of Germany, the family of Bodenberg in Germany, John Galsworthy of England, the Family of Forsyers, William Faulkner of the United States, and Ma Dan Dugall of France, These works were awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature. In this period of China, the Torrent Trilogy was born, which is a family novel of great realistic significance. Starting with the five family novels, this paper mainly discusses two important aspects of family culture: family consciousness and family ethics. The first chapter starts with the family consciousness and discusses the reflection of the sense of family responsibility and the sense of family honor in the five family novels and the difference of the family consciousness. Although both Chinese and Western families are willing to sacrifice for the interests of the family, we find, by contrast, that the Chinese family system trains a group of enslaved citizens who can sacrifice for the family without any condition, and this is only out of obligation. The premise of sacrifice for the family by the victims of the western family is from the individual, and the sacrifice is in exchange for the respect and approval of the family, thus affirming its own value. The second chapter analyzes the characteristics and drawbacks of Chinese and Western family ethics, and discusses the abnormal expression of family ethics brought about by these malpractices from three basic relationships of human relations: father and son, husband and wife and brother. The love and determination of the family is a pair of twins in the author's family. The decline and fall of the family is inevitable. However, while showing the dark side of the family and denouncing the unreasonable family system, the writers also show their deep feelings for the family and their ideal for a harmonious family. This is the main discussion of the third chapter. Finally, the article summarizes and compares the advantages and disadvantages of Chinese and Western family culture. While the West values the individual, China tends to favour the family as a whole. The excessive emphasis on individual independence is not conducive to the unity and harmony of the family, while the long term suppression and distortion of the personality of the feudal family in China leads to the stifling and inflexibility of the family life. It is believed that the family ethics needed in the modern society should be based on the sublation of the above two values and the establishment of a family ethical spirit with the dual value orientation of the individual and the family.
