[Abstract]:Benjamin is undoubtedly a controversial figure, his life wandering, ill-fated, full of tragedy. As a Jew, he was tolerated by the Nazis and killed himself on the way to escape. He accepted Marxist thought and wandered between Judaism and materialism, but his artistic concept was rejected by orthodox Marxism. This melancholy enigma loved Proust, Kafka, and, like both, remained a cold-eyed bystander of the world, out of step with everyday life. His ideas come from a variety of sources. "it was the German youth movement that formed the basis of Benjamin's intellectual career," he said.
