建构主义翻译学视角下的文化负载词翻译策略-《骆驼祥子》两个英译本个案研究

【摘要】：语言不仅是人类思想感情表达与交流的工具,而且是文化的载体,是文化的重要组成部分。不同的语言体现了不同民族的思维方式和行为方式。英汉两种语言文化存在较大差异,产生了一定数量的文化负载词。这些词汇体现了语言中浓厚的民族色彩和鲜明的文化个性。著名作家老舍先生的作品《骆驼祥子》中就含有大量具有浓厚中国色彩的文化负载词。中国学者吕俊教授在建构主义的启发下提出了建构主义翻译学。根据该理论,文本的意义不是自存自在的,也不是永恒不变的,人们只能在人的社会历史实践过程中不断深化完善对文本的理解与解释。具体到文化负载词的英译,这就要求译者首先要熟悉中国文化,正确理解原文以保证不违背知识的客观性。其次要使译文符合目标语的语言习惯以符合理解的合理性及解释的普遍有效性。再者要尊重文本,尊重原文文本的定向性,保证交际功能的最大化。根据尤金·奈达的观点,本文作者把《骆驼祥子》中的文化负载词分为五类:生态文化负载词,物质文化负载词,习俗文化负载词,宗教文化负载词和语言文化负载词,并根据建构主义翻译学对这五类文化负载词的翻译进行了对比分析。本文指出,尽管汉英文化有相似之处,但也存在较大差异,文化负载词以其独特的色彩和丰富的文化内涵为译者带来了巨大挑战,为最大程度地保持其原有的民族特色并忠于原文的内容与风格,在翻译过程中应充分考虑到知识的客观性、理解的合理性与解释的普遍有效性和原文文本的定向性。本文通过对《骆驼祥子》文化负载词翻译策略的研究,旨在为文化负载词翻译策略提供新的理论和实践参考,更好地促进中国典籍的英译。
[Abstract]:Language is not only a tool for the expression and exchange of human thoughts and feelings, but also a carrier of culture and an important part of culture.Different languages reflect the way of thinking and behavior of different nations.There are great differences between English and Chinese languages and cultures, resulting in a certain number of culture-loaded words.These words reflect the strong national color and distinct cultural personality in the language.The work of famous writer Lao She contains a large number of culturally loaded words with strong Chinese color.Professor Lu Jun, a Chinese scholar, put forward constructivism translation theory inspired by constructivism.According to this theory, the meaning of the text is neither self-contained nor permanent. People can only deepen and perfect the understanding and interpretation of the text in the course of people's social and historical practice.The translation of culture-loaded words into English requires the translator to be familiar with Chinese culture and correctly understand the original text so as to ensure that it does not violate the objectivity of knowledge.Secondly, it is necessary to make the target language conform to the target language habits in order to conform to the rationality of understanding and the universal validity of interpretation.Furthermore, we should respect the text, respect the orientation of the original text, and ensure the maximization of communicative function.According to Eugene Nida's view, the author divides the culture-loaded words into five categories: ecological culture-loaded words, material-culture-loaded words, custom culture-loaded words, religious culture-loaded words and linguistic culture-loaded words.A contrastive analysis of the translation of these five culture-loaded words is carried out according to constructivism translation theory.This paper points out that although there are similarities between Chinese and English cultures, there are also great differences. Culture-loaded words pose a great challenge to translators because of their unique colors and rich cultural connotations.In order to maintain its original national characteristics to the maximum extent and to be faithful to the content and style of the original text, the objectivity of knowledge, the rationality of understanding, the universal validity of interpretation and the orientation of the original text should be fully taken into account in the process of translation.Based on the study of translation strategies of culture-loaded words, this paper aims to provide a new theoretical and practical reference for the translation strategies of culture-loaded words, and to better promote the translation of Chinese classics into English.
